Typically, Misty loved the rain. She loved the sounds of the water droplets hitting the roof and windows; even the thunder lulled her to sleep more often than not. But, she could find very little to love about the rain today. Ash's mom had just passed away suddenly, and he was an absolute wreck. Misty tried soothing him, but he couldn't stop crying. She felt horrible, and even more so because she had considered Delia to be a motherly figure since she was ten years old. At that moment, her sadness seemed trivial in the face of Ash's anguish.
"Ash?" She whispered into his jet black mane, "Why? Misty, why did she have to die?" the young raven haired man clenched his fists and sobbed. Misty was about to say something else, "I-I didn't e-even g-get to s-s-say goodbye!" Ash hiccuped as he spoke. It broke Misty's heart to see him like this; every fiber of her was screaming for relief. Oddly enough, Ash sensed this and cradled her against his chest as she started crying as well.
He couldn't help but wonder how his mother had died so suddenly; she didn't look sick the last time he saw her, she wasn't murdered...the mere thought made his blood boil, and even darker thoughts to ravage his mind.
He hadn't noticed that he had been tightening his grip on the woman he loved in his arms, "Ash, your hurting me." she gently whimpered. Ash released her, "I'm so sorry, Mist! I didn't mean too!" Ash's voice sounded so panicked, Misty swore he was having a panic attack. She hugged him close to her, "It's ok, I know you wouldn't hurt me on purpose" Misty reassured her grief stricken husband. This seemed to work in quelling his current state of mind.
Ash looked outside for the first time since that morning; it was a gloomy sight to behold. Not a ray of sunshine peeked through the stormy gray clouds. It was almost as if Arceus or god himself knew just how much his mother meant to him, but, he shook his head of those thoughts. "If you're so great, god; why'd you take her away from me?" Ash whispered through gritted teeth. Misty switched their positions again and kissed his head gently.
"Mom would've scolded me for that one huh?" Ash quipped Misty let out a giggle and Ash lifted his face to give his wife a sad smile. "You're the only family I've got now Misty." A tear slid down the young man's cheek; Misty lifted his chin, "I-I didn't think today would be the best time to tell you, Ash" Misty sniffled and smiled a little. "Ash, I'm pregnant." Before Ash had a second to process, the clouds seemed to give way to a glimmer of the sunshine, illuminating Ash's childhood home.
"I know you heard that Mom, I love you, so much" Ash whispered
