The train travelled through the countryside of England, under the blazing hot sun. I wonder what it will really be like at Hogwarts. Luna thought to herself. She had read about Hogwarts, of course, in The Quibbler. She gazed out the window of her compartment, while she ate her Chocolate Frog. She was alone in the compartment, but she liked it that way. She was always in her own kind of world. At her old school, back in the muggle world, she often kept to herself. She couldn't talk about the things that interested her, from the magical world, with the other kids. Maybe here I'll find someone like me! Someone who loves all the rare magical creatures! Oh, I just can't wait until we get there! She was already for them to get there, dressed in her robes, while she read the newest edition of The Quibbler.
She watched the boats sail off across the river, full of first years, like herself. The moon was full, and was reflected on the murky water. The sky was very dark, but full of bright, shining stars. I could really get used to this, she thought. She hopped in a boat, along with another girl. She had fiery red hair and looked very shy. She introduced herself as Ginny.
When they finally made it into the Great Hall, it was time for the sorting hat. They called up all the students, and it seemed to take forever, "Hufflepuff…..Ravenclaw…..Gryffindor…..Slytherin….Slytherin….Ravenclaw…Hufflepuff…" the names went on and on. "Lovegood, Luna" was called. She tucked a strand of her long blond hair behind her, and stepped through the crowd of students. She sat down on the chair, while the Professor placed the old, ripped hat on her head. "Hmm…. RAVENCLAW!" it yelled. A smile spread across her face as she stood up and walked towards the table full of blue and silver. She watched the rest of the students being placed, and saw that Ginny was placed into Gryffindor. Dumbledore made his speech, introduced the teachers, and stated some rules, about where you could and couldn't go. As the dinner finished, and the dessert was scarfed up, she followed the House Prefect to the common room.
