A REMORSEFUL AZULA BY: mr.book -
NOTE: I DO NOT OWN AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER (AKA AVATAR: THE LEGEND OF AANG).

The prodigy sat there, sulking in her own humiliation, a Firenation Princess in a mental facility? She couldn't believe she cowered this low. Tears brimmed in her eyes, she was sorry for herself, but at the same time resentful. A knock was at the rusty door. A person strode in. Shadows obscured his face, but she observed him, his frame was familiar. ZUKO!

Azula scowled at him, and a stream of blue fire escaped from her mouth. She collapsed, tired and exhuasted, what was the use? Her rage was growing and spreading like a fanned fire.

"Azula...I'm sorry I put you in here..." he said, his voice trembling and something dropped onto the rusting floor. Was that, a tear? Azula fought her tears. She came closer to the fallen object, it was crystal clear now, it was indeed a tear...

"I know you probably hate me now. But, I just came to forgive you, for all you've done..." he said, his back turned towards her. She scoffed.

"So now you expect me to forget all this resentment just because you forgive me!?" she snarled. Zuko turned his face towards her again, his scar was veiled from the murky shadows when a ray of light hit his wound. Azula studied the wound, she remembered the time when she witnessed her father scarring her brother. Oh how she used to relished it, but looking at it once again made her realize how much pain Zuko had been through. She realized that the scar was a burden to him...

"I don't expect you to forget all the resentment you have been holding these many years...I just wanted to tell you that...I love you." he finally admitted. All these years, all the tormenting and scorning, she'd never expect to hear those grand words from anyone. All this time, the words 'I love you.' seemed to have eluded her grasp like a rare creature, not until now. Her growing fiery, rage soon turned cold and diminshed and a quirky feeling had unlocked her stone-sealed heart.

She blew her oily locks out of her eyes to catch a glimpse of her brother, who was now leaving. Everything seemed to be unbalanced. She finally broke down in tears, Zuko rushed towards her and put a hand on her shoulder, his touch was flaming through her clothing. She felt very guilty, and her faults and harm she inflicted onto others, especially her brother, soon came back to haunt her, and like a sword it pierced her. Resentment had flowed out of her...

"I-I-I'm so sorry. I'm sorry for everything I've done to you! I, deserve all the hate you held for years!" she finally mouthed, crying and panting had coated her words. But, Zuko could still hear her clear. He held her, and for the first time, hugged her. The moment was as rare as the rarest diamond. Zuko was so happy to hear her remorse. And his happiness radiated the whole prison cell with forgiveness and compassion.

Tears streamed out of his eyes, "I'm so happy to hear your words Azula..."

Even the most malevolent can have the purest of hearts...

AUTHOR'S NOTES:

I really like Azula, and I felt sorry for her in the Final Episode. So I decided to make a little fan fic. I had to hurry, but please review and enjoy this fanfic.
