I don't own. Listen to for forever from the Dear Evan Hansen Musical
The sun was setting, oranges, pinks, reds, and purples created a masterpiece. Lily watched it as James drove the car down the winding road. Little Harry dozing in the back, the wind from the open windows kept him awake. It was getting dark.
Lily laughed at James as he said something funny. This was her picture perfect life. James pulled into a little grassy spot, and helped get out picnic blanket and basket. Lily pulled out her son as he mumbled in his baby language. She smiled.
As she set up for dinner she watched James chase after Harry, both laughed so much alike. She compared the two of them, she couldn't help but feel something wouldn't be right. She called them back to the blanket. She laughed at their pouting faces.
She laughed at James fed Harry ice cream getting it all over his face, the sunset made it a picture perfect moment. And in that moment she let herself forget the world and her problems. James helped her pick up the basket and put in the car, by that time in had gotten dark.
James wrapped Lily in his arms and pulled her towards the blanket to lay down with their son. Then watched they stars long after Harry had fallen asleep. It was as if everything was perfect, and they could live on for forever. Like life could on forever this way, life could be okay forever.
James holds his family long after Lily falls asleep, feeling like life might not go on forever, might not always be perfect.
