A young little red haired boy opened the door slowly, hesitating in the silence waiting to see if anyone had heard the small creak that had escaped from the rusty hinges. He opened the door the rest of the way letting out a small sigh of relief, checking if the coast was clear. He walked over to a small figure that lay still on a bed in the almost empty hospital wing. He pulled up a small stool, but did not immediately sit down. He pulled a bunch of brightly colored flowers from his robe pockets and replaced the ones that had drooped down in the vase sitting on the bedside table. He sat down and briefly held the hand of the young girl laying there. Her body was un stirring, she had been petrified.

"Hey Hermione, you missed a brilliant charms lesson guess what I perfected that babbling charm that you perfected in the first lesson, yea well I did it, couldn't have done it without those tips you gave me. I wish you were back we really needed your help in history of magic today" he laughed. "Professor Binns droned on and on about goblin revolutions today it was as boring as listening to Percy rave on about cauldron leaks, I swear"

There was a small sound that erupted from the silence, he turned around suddenly, his heart beat faster he couldn't afford another howler from his mother. After a few minutes of no sound his shoulders relaxed and he continued talking to Hermione.

"Harry and I are really getting worried about you Hermione you better wake up and help us we really cant get through all this work alone, transfiguration is getting harder too, oh we have homework I know how angry you would be if you knew how much work you would be missing, so I'm going to do mine here so you don't miss out, if you wake up you might be able to help me" Ron laughed at the thought.

He pulled out his parchment and got to work drawing a diagram of the mandrakes they were looking after in Herbology. He worked into the late hours of the night looking over every so often at Hermione, smiling.

In the early hours of the morning Professor Mcgonagall Head of Gryffindor House and Madam Pomfrey the nurse came in talking.

"What did you say happened Poppy?" inquired Professor Mcgonagall.

"Well we had another visit from our little Gryffindor last night" explained Madam Pomfrey, the two women walked down the isle between the rows of beds over to where Ron had fallen asleep on his potions essay. His body rose and fell comfortably next to Hermione sound asleep. Madam Pomfrey turned to the Professor.

"I didn't have the heart to move him"
