Her Unexpected Valentine

If there was one thing Blair Waldorf never imagined she'd do; it would be spending time willingly with Dan Humphrey, a.k.a. 'Lonely Boy,' and Cabbage Patch.
Nevertheless, since Christmas it occurred to Blair that she was spending more time with Dan than was considered normal (at least, in her book) and secretly she found herself actually enjoying the time she spent with him (not that she'd ever admit it aloud—especially to him).
However, during their time spent together—Blair discovered that on some level she and Dan actually enjoyed some of the same things. Not to mention, out of everyone Blair possibly knew—she discovered that Dan could be quite the intellectual conversationalist; which made hanging-out with him interesting.
Nevertheless, it currently didn't explain how she came to spend this romantic holiday, known as Valentine's Day with someone she could hardly stand; or better yet the aftermath of said known holiday. Then it hit her—Chuck's Valentine's party and the fiasco that followed afterwards.
Once again, the bitter disappointment in learning that Chuck could be a decent guy for some other girl and not for her—broke Blair's heart. Then again, that was usually the outcome of anything Chuck had ever done for Blair—constant pain and heartache.
However, to witness such a romantic display between Chuck and Raina was enough to leave Blair inconsolable and in a state of total shock that for the remainder of the party she had decided to sequester herself in one of the rooms in order to get over what she'd just seen.
As she sat quietly on the bed in the deserted room, she hadn't heard the door open.
It wasn't until she felt the mattress dip and the feel of someone holding her hand—Blair looked to see who was sitting next to her. To Blair's surprise it was Dan Humphrey. Out of all the people to come and attempt to console her (at least, in her mind that was why he was there with her-because really there was no other reason) he came and for once Blair was at loss for words (something that never happened when Dan was around).
Minutes passed and the two simply stared at one another and said nothing.
Of course, it possibly occurred to them both that there was nothing that could be said at this moment. Seeing as how, Dan knew that she didn't want his pity and honestly all he wanted was to reassure (in any way, that he could) Blair that she didn't need someone like Chuck Bass to weigh her down emotionally.
It occurs to Blair now that she thinks about it, that maybe having Dan Humphrey find her when nobody else was looking was a sign. Perhaps, this meant that their quasi-friendship was evolving into something more. What it was she wasn't very sure.
However, Dan Humphrey really did turn out to be quite the unexpected Valentine, but a welcome one at that.
