I do not own Avengers: Infinity War.
I do not own an Infinity Gauntlet.
The Balance
He had done everything he had done, for all the millennia he had done it, for the tranquility of this moment.
All the destruction, all the slaughter.
Just for this moment.
The moment when, after the fields were seeded and the sun had set on the distant lavender plains, he could sit.
At peace, at contentment.
Armor withdrawn, removed.
Draped instead over the scaregarrow in the field.
Knowing there would be enough for all.
A fully belly, adequate resources.
A balance.
Thanos, The Destroyer of Worlds.
Thanos, He Who Courts Death.
Thanos, the farmer.
The scales had finally been balanced.
The execution of half the beings in the universe was carried out with as much practicality as godly possible.
No stinking, rotting bodies.
No extra resources used or destroyed.
The randomly chosen simply dusted away.
Evaporated.
No more.
And now, those remaining would have enough.
No more starvation, no need to fight for resources or survival.
There would be plenty for all remaining.
And though they would eventually overrun their planets once again with their excessive reproduction and their insatiable consumptions it would be quite some time before they returned to the breaking point.
Even the greedy, needy humans would take some time to repopulate.
He had sacrificed everything, lost everything.
Even his little -
Everything.
And all they would remember him as was a monster.
But Thanos, son of Alars, knew he had brought balance to the universe once again.
Knew he had saved multitudes.
And as the sun hovered just above the horizons and the peaceful silence soaked into his weary being, he found he could breathe easy.
Free.
And at peace.
Yes, Thanos is bad and the enemy.
But he believes what he is doing is right because of his experiences.
So, come on, hit me with it.
