Sonic and Tails walked together down the streets of Station Square. Posters and billboards randomly spotted the city, all covered with Sonic's face. There was a high pitched scream behind them. "Oh my God, it's really him!" A group of female animals of all ages, color, and species ran down the street towards them.

Have you no shame? Don't you see me?
You know you've got everybody fooled
The group stampeded past the young fox, causing him to fall face first into the concrete sidewalk. They huddled around the hedgehog, asking him for autographs. He gave them his best devilish grin. "Sure ladies." He said with a wink. The girls in the group shirked, some even fainted.
Look! Here he comes now
Bow down and stare in wonder
Oh, how we love you
No flaws when you're pretending

Tails lifted himself up, wiping a small trickle of blood from his lower lip. His knees were raw. A hole had been torn in his white gloves, reveling cut palms. He glanced at Sonic, who was oblivious to his friend's pain, and walked away.

As he walked, a breeze ruffled his yellow-orange fur. Carried by the wind, a newspaper page flew into the fox's face. He peeled it off himself and looked at it. The headline read: "Sonic Saves the Day Again!" Below it was a photo of the fallen Egg Carrier. Sonic stood near it, smiling triumphantly. There was also something in the corner.
Without the mask where will you hide?

Tails squinted and drew the paper closer to his blue eyes. The thing in the corner was him! In the photo, Tails stood by the demolished Tornado, his face hidden by the plane.

He stared at the headline and the photo. He had helped on that mission. He had gotten Sonic to the Egg Carrier. Without him, Eggman could have won. So why didn't he get any credit?

He crumpled the paper up and walked back towards Sonic. His fan club was almost gone, though they were still in earshot. Tails stopped in front of his former role model, anger boiling in him.

"What's up, Tails?" Sonic asked with smile, not realizing Tail was mad. 'Why, Sonic!? Why didn't you ever tell them I helped?! Why didn't you give me any credit!? Why do you ignore me and treat me like shit!?" Tears wet his furry cheeks. Sonic stared, bewildered. "You're not a real hero!" He threw the article at Sonic and stormed away. "Wait 'till everyone hears about this!" squealed one of the girls. Sonic stood speechless as his world crumbled around him.
