Ever wonder what happened to the author of the fic you stumbled upon one day? You know, those fics that are incomplete (or those short, completed oneshots), written in the early 2000s, and left you hoping to read more stories from them before finding out their last story update was 2009?
It left me wondering what happened to them.
Did they move on? Either to work on original stories, or moved their work to a different website? Or could something bad have happened to them and they didn't have the time to say anything?
That last thought is a little morbid and depressing, I know, but I think it's because I've been reading a lot of tragic ghost fics lately. Heh.
So anyway...
To the authors who stopped writing, to the authors who found an interest elsewhere, and to the authors who may have died and no one knew. This is my appreciation post for you guys. Even if you've moved on, your stories are still being read. And maybe there are people who review years later, asking ā hoping ā for more, but you can't give them what they want, for whatever reason.
Thank you for the time you took to write and post a simple little fan fiction story.
And to whoever reads this, if you have ever posted a story on this site: Years down the road, someone might look back and see the stories you posted. Maybe they will favorite your work, or post a review, and maybe as much as you would want to answer them, there could come a time when you can't.
And that's okay. You moved on.
But you will not be forgotten.
