Title: The First Photo

Notes: Takes place in my little turtle au/series. Takes place short after little Turtle Lost. For those who do not know my au: Donatello is 10 years younger than his brothers, due to some incidents.

"This is my mother. And the other picture on the page is me and my sister, Robin…" April pointed to the photos in the album, while Donnie was sitting on her lap, looking at the photo album. The child looked at the photos with great fascination. When he and the other three turtles had entered, April had been putting family pictures in albums she had bought earlier that week, and the child had asked what she was doing. After explaining what a photo was, the boy had become very interested, and April had started telling him things about the people and places in the images.
Donatello looked at the photos for a few minutes more. He then looked at his brothers, who had all had found a place to sit, and in Raphael's case to lean against, in the room. "Where is our photo book?" the child asked, curious. He surely had never seen a book like this one around their home.
Leo looked at his other brothers, then at Donatello. "We do not have one. It is too dangerous to have photo's developed with us in them." He explained to Donnie, who looked a little sad. "There is no way to safely make..."
April interrupted Leo, smiling "Yes, there is. I have a digital camera, not the best, but it makes nice photos." She looked at the youngest turtle, who was practically bouncing. April glanced at the other three turtles and saw them smile too.
"Can we make a picture of us now, please?" the child gazed up at April, trying to look as cute as he possibly could at that moment.
April chuckled softly, and then got up to get her camera. When she returned, she arranged all four brothers together on one couch, with Don on Leo's lap, and Raph sitting on the armrest. April managed to get all to more or less smile, and took the picture before Mike could give anyone 'bunny ears'. When she walked to her computer, Donnie bounced off Leo's lap, and raced after April.
"Can I see the photo? Can I?" the child said, while following April as close as he could without her tripping over him.
April chuckled "Yes you can… just give me a few minutes to upload it to my computer. It will look much better on there than on the small camera screen."
The four turtles gathered around the computer while April uploaded the photo, and moments later it appeared on screen. Donnie was quite happy, and admired the photo on the screen for a long time.

A few days later April visited the lair, and brought a gift with her. A brand new photo album, with the picture she had taken a few days before on the first page. Many more photos were added in the months that followed.
