I wrote this for my language arts class. We had to write a Shakespearean sonnet on Romeo and Juliet. This was my poem. It's about the Prince thinking about his kinsmen after the whole story was over. There are 10 syllables in each line and every other line rhymes (except the last 2). Enjoy!

The prince sits on his bed, alone, shedding

Tears silently, grieving for those he lost.

He reaches a shaking hand out, petting

his small white cat. Not believing the cost

Of Juliet and Romeo's love on

His own life, he hold his purring feline

Close. He lays back, feeling like a small pawn

In God's hands. He lost two kindred, both fine

Friends. First Mercutio, always witty,

Always with a joke ready to console.

Then Paris, when he had gone to pity

His love's grave, who could always give council.

The young man sits, drying his tears before

More come. Walking outside, he shuts the door.

Quite sad actually. Anyways, it would be VERY nice if you could comment on it. Just click the button!

P.S. Thanks to Nicole for correcting my error
