Disclaimer: No, I don't own In Plain Sight or any of the characters. If I did, these two would be together already. Although, I do like the new baby angle, writers. Keep you the good work ;)

Hope you enjoy this short drabble – purely muse here and my crappy interpretation of it.

Going in circles, round and round again, was what Marshall was use to when it came to Mary. He would always be best friends with Mary, but always harboring that hope that she'd one day realize that he cared for her more than just a best friend should; that he relied on their days together at times, their banter together and those small confessions moments (granted, that sometimes would take more effort to get out of Mary than it would any other person) more than a best friend would.

But ever since Mary had become pregnant 2 months ago, he couldn't go in circles. Not anymore. He'd dropped everything to be there for her since then, to be there every step of the way. Doctor's appointments, stops at local diners one the way to pick up a witness because, hey, there is that pie craving to satisfy and respecting her space while keeping a watchful eye, 'cause if he didn't, she'd be pissed off at him for 'coddling her'.

So here he was, at her doorstep, wondering if he was crazy but his want to end the circles was greater. Marshall knocked three short, hard knocks.

Mary opened her front door with a slightly confused look as she stuffed a turtle truffle into her mouth. "Marshall, what are you doing here?"

Absently he remembered that he usually called first. He shifted from one foot to the other, "I needed to tell you something. More like get something out in the open, I guess."

Mary stared at him while he put his hand under her chin. "I love you, Mary Shannon. You are bossy as hell," he smiled, "have mood-swings at the oddest of times and have what I can only say nicely is a 'dysfunctional family', but I love you anyway." And with that declaration, he leaned down and kissed Mary. Softly, no more than light press but it was enough to wipe the shocked expression off of Mary's face.

When darkness turns to light, It Ends Tonight. It Ends Tonight.

"Want to come in?" she asked quietly. He nodded.

I was working on a research project, listenin' to some music when I heard this song and my pesky muse wouldn't stop running this scene through my head. So naturally, I wrote it down. The song is "It Ends Tonight" by All American Rejects.

I hope I captured the characters right and that they aren't too OOC. I suck as a writer, I know. Thanks for reading it though :)
