To say Kameyo Hayashi was nervous is an understatement. She had been seven for some months now and finally it was time for her first day at the Ninja Academy. Her left blue eye and right green eye scanned the crowd nervously. The Hokage had already give his speech and all new students along with their parents awaited the class assignments. Her father squeezed her hand in reassurance to help calm the growing bundle of nerves in her tummy. Quietly she asked," What happens if the other kids don't like me? "

Toshi knelt down, causing his light green kimono that was decorated with white leaves to bunch around him slightly, and smiled. His left blue eye and right red eye were soft, loving and reassuring. "They'll love you Kame-chan. If they don't, then it's because they don't know you. You're-"

"Amazing and unique in your own way." The two chorused together. Kameyo rolled her eyes playfully and grinned along with her dad.

Toshi laughed, poking his daughter's nose." And don't you forget it!"

Kameyo pouted but then giggled as she thought about her older brother Hajime, five years her senior who was off doing D-ranks with his team. A voice interrupted her train of thought. "Please, can I have everyone's attention?" It was a young Chunin with the standard uniform and plain black hair and brown eyes. Everyone settled down.

"Thank you. I will now be announcing the class assignments starting by last names in alphabetical order. Saki Akimichi-", it didn't take long before he reached the end of the list and the crowd dispersed for kids to find their class.

"I'll pick you up after school, okay?" Kameyo nodded at her dad as he rubbed her head which caused her already messy shoulder length red curls to become messier. "Have a good first day. Make friends."

"Okay..love you dad." She latched onto his waist.

Toshi returned the hug. "Love you too."

And with that Kameyo went off in search of her class, 207. She searched until she found the right room and stepped inside. There were already a few kids inside the room looking just as nervous as she. She sighed deeply before choosing a seat next to a window on the top row. More children filed into the room and started to quietly chat. The bell rang. Kameyo bit her lip as she realized the emptiness of her row and no one's attempt to converse with her. Her heart dropped a bit but she pushed the feeling away as the teacher came into the room.

In front of the class stood a young man in the standard Chunin uniform with pale skin, white hair and blue eyes. He smiled at the class. "Hello everyone. My name is Shiro, (Kameyo couldn't help but snort at the irony), Yamamoto and I'll be your sensei starting today. It's a pleasure to meet you all. Why don't we start off with everyone introducing themselves to the class by standing up and saying something about yourselves."

When it was her turn everyone's gaze landed on her and she stood and swallowed. "I'm Kameyo Hayashi. My dream is to live up to my family name and protect my loved ones." And with that she sat down.

Shiro-sensei nodded in recognition before clapping his hands to gain everyone's attention. He went on to start lesson of the day which just consisted of a long lecture of the responsibility of being a ninja is. Kameyo tuned him out eventually to stare at the window, taking in the baggy beige shirt she wore and black shorts. Looking past it and out, she watched the leaves sway in the wind, white clouds passing in the blue sky.

'I...I wish I was a bird.'

The following month of school passed in much the same manner. Kameyo usually stared off into the blue sky ( so blue) or slept through class which Shiro-sensei scolded her for. Not that she minded. Their classes consisted of Culture, Language, Math, Gym, History and Science. And unluckily for Kameyo, Kunoichi classes. Hanako-sensei always scolded Kameyo for her lack of feminine qualities. Gym and History were by far her favorite classes. She loved the thrill of adrenaline and the knowledge of the history of all nations, past and present.

Private training with her father continued after school and on the occasion her brother. She finished learning basic Chakra control exercised such as getting a leaf sticking to one's forehead, Chakra strings, tree climbing, water walking and pouring Chakra into her limbs to enhance physical abilities.

Today though Toshi lifted up a small piece of paper and smiled at his daughter who gasped before squealing. "Is that?!"

"Yes ma'am, it is! Since your seven you're first Chakra Nature should be popping up now."

Kameyo took the paper from her dad. "Any guesses to what my first Chakra Nature will be?"

Toshi grinned as he stroked his nonexistent beard. "Well, your mom and brother both had earth as their main affinity while your grandmother and myself had wind. My dad had Lightning as his first but none of my siblings have it as their main affinity. So I bet earth or wind."

Kame nodded before concentrating Chakra into the paper. It crinkled. Toshi blinked. "Oh. Wow. Hadn't expected that. Huh." He rubbed his face in thought.

Kameyo looked at her dad slightly worried. "Is Lightning bad?"

The brunette shook his head. "No not at all. It's just that I'm not too well versed in the Lightning department. I didn't focus on element ninjustu as much as Arata or Aki because I'm a funjutsu master. Lightning is actually my fourth element." Her dad rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. " Looks like we'll have to get you a sensei to learn from."

The redheaded girl blinked owlishly. "Anyone you have in mind?"

Toshi rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "I do."

"As I'm sure you know, my name is Kakashi Hatake. There are plenty of things I like and dislike. My dreams aren't any of your business. And I have lots of hobbies."

Kameyo sweat dropped as she stared at the masked white haired man in front of her. She gathered nothing from that introduction aside from the fact he had hobbies. Lots of hobbies. And even then she had no idea what they were. Kakashi stared at her lazily, hands in pockets and an expectant look in his lone black eye that held a ting of amusement. Seemed he enjoyed getting under peoples skin.

"Uh...I'm Kameyo Hayashi. I like meditation, flowers, my family, animals and my dad's cooking. I dislike coach roaches," Cue shiver, " intensely. Bullies and arrogant people. Hobbies include reading, picking flowers with my family, sleeping and eating."

It was Kakashi's turn to sweat drop. The last two weren't even hobbies. "And what about dreams?"

"I wish to live up to my family name and protect those precious to me."

Something flickered though Kakashi's gaze before he gave his famous eye smile and ruffled Kameyo's hair. "I look forward to teaching you Kame-chan."

Said girl blushed at his actions and smiled shyly, "Me too Kakashi-sensei."

"Toshi-san already told me about your training. Let's start off with kunai and shuriken practice. Our primary focus will be getting you into shape and that means Taijutsu."

Kameyo tilted her head curiously. "When will you teach me some Lightning Jutsus?"

"Lightning is fast and powerful. To control it you need to keep up with it which is why we'll focus on Taijutsu."

Kameyo nodded in understanding. "What's first?"

Kakashi smiled so brightly that it was creepy. Instantly Kame knew she didn't like that smile and would be seeing much more of it in the near future. "10 laps around Konoha." Kame paled. "Before that though," he held something up, "put these weights on."

'Kami-sama help me.'

Hey guys I've edited things and altered things to a minor change. It been a while and I'm real sorry. I don't own Naruto or Naruto characters! Just Kameyo and her family or any other OCs you notice! :)

Anway the school year will be like this. You start the Academy if from January 1st to December 31st during the year at some point you turn 7 which in Kameyo's case is January so, she's older then most of her peers who could still be six when entering the academy. School officially starts the last Monday of July and ends the first Friday of June, so summer is almost two months long. And Graduation happens the first Friday of March and on the following Friday are team assignments.
