Light paced up and down the corridor leading to the master bedroom where he and L would sleep. The door was cracked, so that L could not only have his privacy while changing, but also keep an eye on Light. "Changing" was, of course, a misnomer – whether day or night, he'd always end up wearing the same baggy shirt and light blue jeans. It frustrated Light to no end, but this was not the cause of his harried thoughts and mindless pacing.

So lost was Light in his own thoughts that he started when L appeared right in front of where his next step would be. Those midnight eyes, carrying a gentle gleam from the moonlight shining in, were so close to his own, and yet…

L appeared amused to have made Light flinch. The sparkle of regale alighting his eyes was so mesmerizing to Light. It compelled Light to close his own and lean forward, not caring where he ended up.

The warmth of the crook of L's neck heated Light's cheek, and he could feel his ear being pressed up against L's defined jaw. He stayed there, feeling L's breath hitch at first from the contact. A small smile pulled up at the corners of his mouth when L's breathing relaxed. For once, he felt at peace with all things.

He had finally met his match in L. This deadly game of cat-and-mouse was so devastatingly exciting and alluring to Light. He didn't want it to end, but he knew that it would have to eventually. Because he was Kira, and Kira and L could not coexist.

Finally, after a long moment, Light opened his eyes, and pulled away, stepping around L to head to the master bedroom. Once there, he composed himself, masking his internal warring emotions with a placid look of indifference. He chuckled to himself. Oh, Ryuzaki. How sad it is that you are L. Otherwise I wouldn't have to kill you.
