I just thought that there was very little reaction from Daniel on the closing of the Gate so I decided to write it myself.

As usual all feedback is welcome

Daniel stared at Kinsey in absolute horror.

"You're shutting down the Gate?" Daniel demanded, "You can't."

"Dr Jackson," Kinsey said with a patronising tone, "Your linguistic expertise will get you another job."

"Job?" Daniel snapped, "What the hell do I care about this job? My wife is out there."

"Ah yes," Kinsey sneered, "Your so called wife."

Jack grabbed Daniel holding him back from Kinsey's throat.

"How dare you," Daniel's eyes flashed.

"I'm sure this young woman that you met was very nice…" Kinsey started.

"Senator, are you married?" Daniel asked through gritted teeth, Jack still holding his arm firmly.

"Yes."

"And I assume you love your wife."

Kinsey nodded, "Of course."

"Then imagine this," Daniel glared at him, "One day she is kidnapped from your home, she has something placed inside her which puts her through agonising pain and makes her witness to atrocities she never knew could exist. And you know that wherever she is, she is being raped but there is absolutely nothing you can do," Daniel stared at him leaving the words hanging the air for a second, "Imagine that Senator and you'll know exactly what I live with every day."

With that he wrenched his arm from Jack and left the room.

"That young man is definitely a little over-emotional," Kinsey frowned.

Jack turned on him, "With all due respect Senator, you have no idea what you're talking about."

"Really Colonel," Kinsey's voice held a note of disdain.

"If it wasn't for Sha're none of us would be standing here," Jack told him, "She was the one who rounded up the boys to save us. If she hadn't done that we wouldn't have stopped Ra sending through the bomb and that would have destroyed a fair chunk of this continent. She deserves a great deal more respect than you have given her," he turned to Hammond, "Sir?"

Hammond nodded, "Go check on him."

Jack found Daniel in his office seething.

"You okay," he asked the young archaeologist.

"I really want to smash something," Daniel said, "Preferably Kinsey's head but I only have one arm. Not to mention the valuable artefacts in here."

Daniel dropped into the seat and rested his head in his good hand, "They can't do this," he whispered in despair, "They can't."

"Daniel," Jack sat next to him, "What you said about Sha're, I never…"

"I never thought Apophis needed her for a chess partner," Daniel snapped angrily.

Tears suddenly sprung to his eyes, "Jack, what am I going to do if they really close the Gate? She needs me. I need her," he brushed the tears away quickly.

Getting so emotional in front of Jack was something he didn't want to do.

Jack gently put his hand on Daniel's head and drew him into a comforting embrace.

"Let it out Danny," he whispered giving his friend the support he needed, "We'll fix this and we'll find her."

Rocking his young friend Jack hoped Hammond could get this decision reversed because if the Gate was sealed forever he had no idea how Daniel would survive.
