A/N: Companion piece to "Hoarding Love". Not mandatory to read that one first (no plot connection, mostly because neither have much ;) ), but it will probably help with the universe.

Steve sat on the beach and watched Danny soar over the ocean. He loved watching Danny fly, loved just about everything about Danny, in human or dragon form (except the hoarding. He could do without that), but watching him fly was something special. He reached out his mind, tapping into his connection with Danny so he could actually feel how flying felt. He was filled with Danny's exhilaration, the joy at each dip and soar, the heart-stopping feeling of diving toward the water and pulling up at the last minute. It wasn't enough, though. He wanted to experience it for himself.
Danny landed beside him. "You can, you know," he thought.
"How? I'm not a dragon." Steve said the words out loud, even though he didn't have to. Communicating telepathically still felt weird to him.
He could feel Danny chuckling indulgently. "No, but I am. You can ride me, you know."
Steve was awed. He'd thought about it, but he didn't think Danny would let him.
"Of course I would," Danny replied to the unspoken thought. "All you had to do was ask."
Steve was overjoyed at the thought of being on Danny's back, experiencing flying for himself. "Wait right here." He ran into the house and returned holding a climbing harness, which he managed to fasten around Danny's neck. It wouldn't necessarily keep him from slipping, but at least he wouldn't plummet to his death.
Danny bent a foreleg, and Steve climbed up and secured himself as best he could. "Ready?" Danny asked.
"Ready."
Danny took off, powerful wings beating, and started flying slowly over the water. It was amazing, but Steve wanted more. "Higher, Danny, higher!"
Danny obeyed, angling sharply up and flying higher until he caught a draft. Then he glided along effortlessly. Even though he'd been higher skydiving, it felt like nothing Steve had ever experienced. Here he was moving, climbing, actively participating, not just falling passively towards earth. Unlike being in a plane, he could feel the wind rush by. Then Danny dove, and Steve's heart leapt into his mouth, his momentary fear quickly replaced by a feeling of exhilaration, mirrored by Danny. For an adrenaline junky like Steve, it was the best high he'd ever had.
Danny pulled up at the last minute, soaring high again, and Steve laughed out loud in joy. Danny flew for a few minutes longer, then landed back on the beach, much to Steve's disappointment.
"You can do it again, you know," Danny said, appearing behind Steve and wrapping his arms around him.
Steve's face lit up. "Really?"
"Anytime, babe. Right now, though, I'd like to send you flying in a different way." Danny nuzzled Steve's neck suggestively.
"Sounds good to me."
