Here's a little something to keep you occupied until the sequel begins :) Don't worry, it's in the works, I'm just trying to balance writing, school work, actual work, and applying to grad school. I know this is kind of weird, I don't know where it came from, I must have been in a depressing mood one night...But I still hope you like it! Again, please don't read this if you haven't finished The Special Two. Unless you don't plan to. But I don't recommend that :)
Lovesick Mistake
Sirius opened the door slowly, and smiled brightly at the beautiful girl standing on his doorstep. He motioned for her to come in.
"Happy birthday, gorgeous," he told her. "Do you like the new place?" He waved his hand behind him. "Lily helped me match the colors." He grinned proudly.
"Well, come in and sit down. I have dinner made. I'm really discovering my love for cooking. I think you'll like it. It's your favorite. Spaghetti and meatballs with a little twist." He laughed. "Don't roll your eyes. It's a good twist. Nothing that will make you vomit, at least, like last time."
He pulled out a chair for her and pushed it in. "Wine to drink," he placed the glass in front of her, and pushed the serving bowl of dinner toward her.
"I know traditionally on your birthday we go out and do something extravagant, but I thought tonight we'd stay in and have champagne and chocolate covered strawberries, bring back the memories of our first date."
He let out a sigh. "You're even more beautiful than I ever noticed. How is that possible?" He laughed. "Since when do you blush? I like it. The color looks good on you. How is the dinner?" He beamed with pride. "I thought you'd like it. I can't eat. I'm too anxious to get to the next part." He laughed again. "Not that part quite yet. I just mean…Why don't you come down here?" He sat on the blanket in front of the fireplace and patted the spot next to him. There were two glasses of champagne and two plates of the strawberries he had mentioned. "Hungry?" He chuckled. "Take your time and make sure you taste it."
There was a knock on the door.
"Ignore it, Anna. I have something for you." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a little black box. He sat up slightly and lifted himself onto his knee. He opened the box, revealing the most brilliant diamond, and opened his mouth.
The knock came again.
"They can wait," he said again, flustered. "Don't cry, Anna," his eyes were teary. "I love you so much. You're the only thing I've ever wanted more than a flying motorbike. I need you with me forever. Will you marry me?" He vaguely processed the door opening behind him.
James stood in the door and looked into Sirius' new apartment and it only took him a few seconds to register the scene in front of him—the birthday decorations, the candlelit dinner, an untouched bowl of spaghetti and meatballs, two uneaten plates of chocolate covered strawberries, two untouched glasses of champagne, and Sirius kneeling down on a blanket in front of the fire, holding out his engagement ring to the empty air.
Sirius turned around, saw the look on James' face—one of pity, loathing, and most of all grief—and stood up slowly.
James rushed over to his best friend and embraced him just as Sirius, the light and laughter disappearing from his eyes, came back to reality and broke down.
