Author's Note: Whoa dudes! I'm alive! Anyway, thank you KH3 for getting me back into fanfics! Anywho, this was meant to be a remake of my story, Passion, but it ended up becoming its own thing, so here we go! There some similarities between the two, compare them if you will, but in the meantime, here's the first chapter of Don't Think Twice!

Chapter 1: New Year, New Memories

High school is often a mixed experience for all young students. In fact, whether students actually enjoyed their high school years is also very dependent on the student. For Kairi Uchida, high school felt like rollercoaster. Having to start a whole new life at Destiny Islands the summer before 9th grade was a huge adjustment. Yet, it ended up working out for the best. There were times over the first three years of school where she felt like she was climbing up to her peak, but then there were times where she felt like she fell faster than gravity. What could anyone expect when high school years are full of life changes?

Everything about Kairi's life changed in high school. She changed physically, as to be expected. Despite her not realizing it, Kairi had grown into a very pretty young lady thanks to the miracle of orthodontics, skin care products, and her actually putting an effort into doing her hair as well as growing it out. She got lucky and made some good friends when she first moved to the island who helped her come out of her shell socially giving her a vibrant personality. Little did she know that this year would include the biggest changes of her life.

To say that Kairi felt like she was starting the school year with it all would be an understatement. In fact, she had never felt more confident during the first day of a school year ever. She was a senior, top of the class. She had her friends, the best she had ever met, even more than the ones she had in her hometown. She was one step closer to being done with taking useless courses that had nothing to do with her passion. Of course, the icing on the cake, she had a boyfriend this time around whom she started dating the spring semester of her junior year.

"Let's do this!" Kairi said to herself as she grabbed her backpack and ran downstairs and into the kitchen.

"Morning, sweetie!" Kairi's mother, a woman who looked very much like an older version of Kairi, but had her shoulder-length hair up in a bun, greeted her daughter. She looked over at another girl, one quite younger than Kairi who had the same face, but short, black hair. "Xion, pass your sister the juice, please."

Xion nodded, taking off her headphones. "Here you go!" She handed the juice carton to Kairi as her big sister sat at the table.

Kairi exhaled deeply. "Thanks." She poured some juice before spreading her bagel with garlic and herb flavored cream cheese. Kairi watched as a middle-aged man in business casual clothing hurried into the kitchen and rapidly poured coffee into a tumbler. "You seem in a hurry, Dad."

"Yeah," Kairi's father ran a hand through his black hair that Xion obviously inherited. He actually looked nothing like Kairi, but that's to be expected when he was actually her stepdad. Still, he came into Kairi's life when she was only 2 or 3, so it was almost like he was always there since the beginning. "Sorry I gotta run, gang! They screwed up my class schedule and I actually start in 15 minutes!"

Kairi and Xion waved to their father as he dashed out the door. "I'm never gonna be a teacher like Dad." Xion sighed as she dug her spoon into her cereal. "I can't deal with bullshit like that."

"Xion! Watch your tone!" Their mother sighed. "You're only 10, you shouldn't be using that kind of language."

Xion rolled her eyes. "Fine, sorry." She put her headphones back on. "Oh! Here Kairi, listen to this one!"

Kairi took Xion's earbud and put it to her ear. "Yes! This one's awesome!" One of the big changes that Kairi experienced was that she actually became closer with Xion after moving to the island, and as Xion grew older and started becoming interested in the same things as Kairi, which included…

"Mom, Satoshi from down the street wants us to go to the movies on Friday, can we go?" Xion asked.

"Who else is going?" Kairi asked sipping her juice.

Xion perked up. "Nobody! It's supposed to be a date!"

Mrs. Uchida gasped and Kairi nearly choked on her juice from laughing. "You're not going on a date! Your father won't allow it!"

"But Kairi gets to-"

"-Kairi is 17 years old." Mrs. Uchida set two bagged lunches for her daughters on the table. "Even then, your father isn't the biggest fan of her going out with boys."

"Better start praying that Dad lets you date before you turn 40." Kairi laughed. Xion glared at her. "I gotta go!"

"Alright, have a good day!" Mrs. Uchida hugged her daughter.

Kairi waved to her mom and sister before dashing out the door. She brushed her white blouse and blue skirt that made up her school uniform before making her 20 minute walk to Destiny Islands High School. The nice old man that lived across the street from her waved like he did every morning while he walked his little dachshund, Oscar. Kairi smiled and waved back as she threw her purple backpack on her back. The sprinklers from the front lawns of the neighborhood cast a mist that brushed her smooth face. The early morning sun gave her auburn hair a great shine. In fact, it was such a pretty shine that anybody walking behind her could recognize her.

Of course, to accompany her walk, Kairi flipped through her ipod touch to start up some music on her headphones. To the average stranger, watching Kairi walk while listening to music was very entertaining. Depending on the song, she typically had a bounce to her step. Her J-pop playlist away had her bopping her head and bouncing with every other step she took down the street. The volume was also the perfect way for Kairi to just tune out whatever distractions the rest of the world had in store for her, but that also meant she wasn't paying attention to her surroundings, which allowed more opportunities for…

"GOTCHA!" A young male's voice echoed.

"Oh my gosh!" Kairi gasped as some arms wrapped around her waist from behind. She turned around and locked eyes with one of her favorite people in the world. Her shocked expression curled into a sweet smile that could make any guy's heart melt. "Hey Sora!"

"Sorry I didn't come by your house this morning." Sora scratched the back of his head as he began walking next to Kairi. "I overslept a little."

Kairi laughed and shook her head. "You lazy bum!"

"Gimme a break, Kairi!" Sora laughed.

"So, where's your brother? I thought he was gonna walk with us this morning since it's his first day of high school."

Sora sighed. "Oh...my mother suggested he take the bus." He shook his head. "She thought it'd be a great way for him to 'meet people'. The poor kid has been struggling all summer, but she insists she knows what she's doing."

"Fair enough, I guess." Kairi moved some hair behind her ear. "Xion's started going through a phase over the summer. She keeps trying to act all grown up. She thinks by doing that, our mom will finally let her hang out with us. She's already been asked on a date."

Sora raised an eyebrow. "Isn't she like 10, or something?" Kairi nodded. He laughed. "Adorable." The two of them approached the large, while building with blue rooftops. "So, this is it! Our last first day of high school."

"Yep." Kairi nodded. She stared at the front of the school, which donned a large fountain and a flagpole. Hundreds of students were either leaning against the wall of the school making out with whoever that week's hookup was, huddling in small groups gossiping, pulling off crazy stunts with skateboards, or bouncing whatever ball they played with. Kairi turned and looked at Sora. "You gonna miss it?"

Sora exhaled deeply. "Well…" He looked at Kairi.

"Nah!" They both shook their heads.

Sora and Kairi paced their way onto the campus and over to the large fountain. There, sitting on the edge, were two other girls the same age. One was reading a book sitting criss-cross. Her height was the same as Kairi and her hair was the same length, only it was a bright, blonde color. Meanwhile, the other girl, a little shorter than Kairi, was skipping on the edge of fountain, a book balancing on her brown, curly head. Kairi looked at her funny before shaking her head and increasing her pace to stop this girl before she got hurt or damaged something.

"Selphie!" Kairi called up to her. "What're you doing?"

"Shhh!" The blonde girl hushed Kairi. "She told me not to let anyone disturb her focus."

Sora shook his head. "Sorry, Namine." He looked up at Selphie funny. "What is she doing anyway?"

Namine shut her book. "Apparently, Selphie read an article online over the summer that if you skip around a fountain with a book balancing on your head for 5 minutes straight without dropping the book, it'll bring you good luck."

"Selphie! Get down here!" Kairi groaned and pulled Selphie down.

"Hey!" Selphie pouted. "I was on a roll!"

Kairi shook her head. "If you're not careful, you'll find yourself ROLLING off that fountain onto the hard concrete." Her eyes scrolled to the top of her head. "What book were you using anyway?"

"Just my brother's copy of Freedom Five, Issue 2: Into the Void."

Sora gasped. "Hey! That's a classic!" He swiped the comic book off of Selphie's head. "You could've damaged this!"

Selphie shrugged before sitting on the fountain. "That's what he gets for reading my diary for the past 7 years...the little apeface…"

Namine stretched her arms. "You'll appreciate him later, trust me."

Everybody looked up and saw a group of tall, muscular guys in school uniforms walking down towards the fountain. It almost looked like an army with the way all of them marched together in perfect formation and unison. One of them, the one in front with the red hair that fell to the side of his face, let the group and interacted with a few of the other guys in front. One, in the back, with silver hair that was shoulder-length, walked behind as if he walked in the shadows of the other guys. The redhead in the front was throwing a blue and white ball in the air.

"Oh...my...god…" Selphie's eyes widened.

Namine looked at her funny. "What?"

"The Blitzball team, the best group of the best-looking guys on campus…" Selphie sighed as she leaned against Namine.

Sora crossed his arms. "What's the big deal? I mean Riku is my best friend, but other than that, I don't get why every girl loses their shit over them."

"Ask Kairi, she's dating the team captain." Namine smiled and teased.

Kairi blushed. "Uh…" She brought her legs in closer. "Do I have to talk about it?" Sora and the girls just laughed. The redhead Blitz player shot a seductive look to Kairi and approached her. Kairi gazed up and smiled shyly. "Hey, Bickson."

"Hey babe." He leaned down and kissed her deeply. Sora and Selphie looked at each other and made disgusted looks. "Missed ya."

"Same!" Kairi said with her head low. "Ready for senior year?"

"You bet!" Bickson shoved his way between Kairi and Sora and wrapped his arm around her. "Especially with Blitz season starting! I'll have the perfect season with the perfect babe!" The other guys waved Bickson to continue making their way across campus. He kissed Kairi's cheek. "See you in 3rd period."

"Okay!" She softly said and waved at him.

Sora rested his head on his hands and leaned against the fountain. "Can't believe she's still with that guy."

Selphie poked Sora in the arm. "Is somebody jealous?" she teased.

"No! Of course not! I have a girlfriend for crying out loud!"

Kairi laughed. "It's okay! Sora's just looking out for me and being protective." She looked directly into his eyes. "I think it's cute."

Sora smiled sweetly. "You're my girl! I gotta look after you!" He fist bumped with Kairi. The two of them watched Riku, the silver-haired player as he slumped onto the fountain next to Namine. "Hey man, you were kinda dragging behind the rest of the players."

Riku sighed. "Yeah, whatever." He looked up at the bright, blue sky. "I just want this Blitz season done and over with."

"Fair enough." Namine said. She looked around for a minute. "Where's Roxas?"

"Your guess is as good as mine." Riku laughed. "He's been acting weird all weekend long."

The bell rang. Everybody sighed and went to their first period classes. For Kairi, Namine, and Sora, that was English. For Riku, it was Gym. For Roxas and Selphie, that was Calculus. Their classes were pretty self-explanatory in what was going on throughout the semester. Second period had Riku and Kairi in Calculus together. Once the teacher handed out the syllabus, the rest of the period had everyone free to do whatever they wanted as long as they didn't destroy the classroom. Kairi looked over at Riku, who sat next to her. He had been quiet all period long, which was saying a lot because he liked to talk.

Kairi leaned over to Riku. "You okay?"

"Yeah, just got some shit on my mind." Riku sighed and leaned in his seat.

"Sorry, I just worry when it seems like there's something wrong with one of my friends." She apologized. Riku smiled and patted Kairi on the back. "So...why has Roxas been acting weird? Do you know why?"

Riku sighed. "I think so." He leaned over and got close to Kairi's ear. "Over the summer, he swore on his grandmother's grave that he was gonna ask Namine out before the first Friday after school starts."

Kairi gasped. "No way! He's not gonna do it! He's way too shy and quiet!" She laughed. "Is that why he's been avoidant?" Riku nodded. "That makes sense. Namine's no better. She's had a crush on Roxas since the 10th grade."

"Well, we'll just have to wait and see, I guess." Riku put his arms behind his head.

When third period came, that was Creative Writing. Kairi absolutely loved this class. Meanwhile, Bickson only took this class because he knew it would be an easy A and also because Kairi was taking it as an elective. Once the class was free to do what they wanted to do, Kairi excused herself to go use the restroom. While washing up, she heard a knock on the door to the girls' restroom. Curious, she walked over and opened the door only to find none other than Bickson of all people!

"Bickson!" Kairi gasped. "How'd you manage to get out of class?"

"Same way you did." He laughed. "Told her I had to go to the bathroom."

Kairi sighed and brought her face close to his. "You don't have to go, do you?"

Bickson snickered. "You know me too well." He growled as he wrapped his arms around Kairi's waist. She laughed as he leaned in and began to kiss her. As Bickson leaned in and deepened the kiss, he pressed his body against hers. "Have you ever made out in a janitor's closet before?"

"Huh?" Kairi looked at him funny.

"Come here." Bickson softly moaned before backing Kairi into the janitor's closet that was next to the bathrooms. They continued to makeout as Bickson shut the door behind him. As their making out intensified, Bickson's hand immediately travelled down Kairi's front and immediately cupped one of her breasts. A moan escaped her mouth as Bickson nailed her against the wall. His fingers began unbuttoning her blouse.

"Wait! Bickson!" Kairi pushed Bickson away from her. "This is not a good idea."

"Why not?" He looked at her funny.

"Because...it's the first day and I'd rather not go home with a referral saying that I was caught making out with my boyfriend in the janitor's closet, it's also really messy and disorganized in here, and also this is THE MOST CLICHE place for us to make out in." Kairi whispered.

Bickson sighed in disappointment. "Alright, fine."

Kairi pecked him on the lips. "I'm sorry. We should get back to class." She fixed the undone buttons on her blouse and made sure her hair wasn't messy. "Let me go first and then come out in about three minutes."

"Sure thing."

Kairi and Bickson both managed to make it back to third period without getting caught, which she thought was a miracle. After third period, came lunch period. This was the one time that Kairi could hang out with all of her friends at once aside from before and after school. Although sometimes the guys and girls would split up at lunch so they could have their 'girl time' and 'guy time'. This time, Sora, Riku, and Roxas had lunch with Tidus and Wakka, a couple of friends from the Blitzball team. As a matter of fact, aside from Riku, the only members of the Blitzball team that Sora and Roxas didn't have a problem with.

"You're not eating, Roxas." Sora smacked the arm of the boy with spiky dirty blonde hair next to him.

Roxas sighed. "I can't eat! I haven't been able to eat all weekend!"

"Well you better before the Blitz guys eat your food." Riku shook his head.

"We Blitz players need all the energy, ya?" Wakka, a tan, muscular guy with orange hair that stuck up chimed in.

Tidus, the other guy that had blonde hair that was a little shorter than Riku's, cocked his head to the side. "What's been with you anyway, Roxas?"

"He has to ask out Namine before Friday." Riku teased. "He swore on his grandmother's grave!"

"Dude!" Tidus groaned. "You've liked this girl since the 10th grade! Just do it!"

"I can't! I don't even know if I'm her type!" Roxas hid his face in his hands. "We can barely have a normal conversation with each other." He looked at Sora and Riku. "I don't know how you two do it! Riku, you have girls crawling all over you, and Sora...you don't seem to have problems with girls!"

Riku laughed. "It's all based on confidence, bro! You gotta have confidence!" A cheerleader came and sat on Riku's lap. She started making out with him. Roxas' eyes widened. "See?" Riku patted his friend on the back. "Girls like guys that are confident!"

"Sora?" Roxas asked.

Sora shrugged. "I don't have much else from my end. I'm not as confident as Riku, but my mom always says I have a natural charm to me."

"Speaking of charm…" Tidus said pointing to behind Sora.

Wakka chuckled. "Charming little Heartilly over there is looking right at ya, man."

Sora turned around and saw a girl walking towards him. She was about the same height as Kairi, but her hair was dark brown with blonde highlights and she had golden brown eyes that Sora could get lost in. The girl made eye contact with Sora and smiled sincerely, her eyes lowered just enough to give that seductive flare. Sora's crystal blue eyes widened as they met the girl's brown ones. He flashed a wide grin as the girl walked over and sat next to him. She wrapped her arms around Sora's neck and pulled him into a kiss. Roxas groaned and slammed his face on the table at the sight of his two best friends making out with girls that he didn't even know that well.

"Hey Rinoa…" Sora said softly breaking the kiss.

Rinoa smiled. "Sorry I missed you this morning. I had to get one of my classes switched."

Sora shook his head. "Don't worry about it." He wrapped his arm around Rinoa and pulled her closer to him.

"What's wrong with him?" Rinoa asked pointing to Roxas.

"He's supposed to ask out a girl, but he's nervous."

Riku ceased his little makeout session and looked over at Sora and Rinoa. "Rinoa, tell Roxas what girls like in a guy?"

Rinoa perked up. "Oh! That's easy! Girls like guys that are confident and-"

"-That's it!" Roxas yelled. He stood up and walked across the cafeteria, everyone looked up and watched him. "I'm gonna go become a Catholic priest!"

Kairi, Selphie, and Namine, who were sitting at a different table, looked at each other. "What's wrong with Roxas?" Namine asked.

Kairi and Selphie looked at each other. "It's probably best you don't know." Kairi said patting her on the back.

Sora and Riku groaned and hid their faces in their hands.

"Why a Catholic priest?" Tidus asked.

The other guys shook their heads and held them low. All they could think of was that Roxas was going to have a long week ahead of him if he didn't make a move within the next few days.
