Ranma's eyes met mine the word begin sounded through the room. There was an intense silence between us, a mix of adrenaline and our eagerness. We shook hands and bowed, as custom required.
Then it was on. I watched my sparring partner carefully, which was never enough. With one quick motion, he landed a blow to the chest protector I wore.
I made an attempt to return the favor but was met with another reminder from his foor that he was faster than me. I began to get frustrated. I tried a fake out which worked. However, that was the only hit he'd let me get, despite my efforts.
When the long two minutes was over, I was slightly out of breathe and sweat drenched the back of my uniform. Ranma, on the other hand, looked perfectly fine. He smiled at me, shook hands again. "Good job," he said. I knew it wasn't. He'd kicked my ass. Again.
I smiled back anyway and for that instant everyone else in the room dissapeared. All I saw was his smile that made my stomach swirl a little and all I felt was his hand, which was still holding mine. I blushed a little.
Our eye contact broke and reality was back. The rest of that hour was blur, I barely noticed leaving except for the goodbyes. On the way home my heart and mind were racing. Soon enough, I told myself.
A couple of hours passed without much notice and soon enough it was time. I checked my reflection in the full-length mirror on my way out then headed out the door. The autmn breeze felt good against my face as I walked.
I somewhat despised the walk's length, that is until I reminded myself of what was waiting for me.
It was almost dusk when I arrived. He was waiting for me as always, looking as he had hours before only now dressed in a T-shirt and shorts. I smiled as my arms flew around Ranma. "Ready?" He asked, taking my hand in his.
Was I ever. We walked hand in hand until we reached our favorite spot by the lake. I sat down in the grass, he sat with me.
In some way I can't begin to understand or describe, he smiled so knowingly at me and as if my thoughts were as clear as words written on a page. He kissed me softly, and I completely lost myself.
I don't know how much time passed, when I was with Ranma I never did. I laid my head on his chest as we lay together, words were unnessacary.
His arms locked around me and I felt safe. I didn't want to go back to the rest of the world. I wanted this to go on. "I love you." I whisper. This night, and all others like it are what keep me going.
This is my escape.
A/N I know its really short, please tell me what you thought of it!
