"Ron…"

"Don't make this harder than it already is!" Ron snapped loudly. His voice was shaking, his fingers tightening on his wand whose end was pointing at his best friend.

"Ron, why are you doing this? What do you want? What did I do?"

"You wouldn't understand! You-you…it's for the best, Harry!"

"To kill the Boy-Who-Lived? The only chance for the wizarding world?"

"Don't you get it, Harry? Look around you. People are dying as we speak. It's hopeless, even if you do defeat You-Know-Who, lives would have already been lost, families already scarred. What if you just give up? Let us live under his rule. At least we would all be safe."

"No one would be happy again! Our children will never know what a laugh, what a smile is!"

"The only reason people are dying is because of you, Harry! If you die, maybe Voldemort will stop! We can all live!"

"You call that life? That's not life. What's the point of living if you can't be happy? People would rather die in honor than die in fear!"

"Who said we're going to die?"

"You will! Your entire family…everyone!"

Ron paled. "Y-you're…you're WRONG! H-he promised…"

"Who?"

"V-Voldemort. He said he will leave my family in peace…if I kill you."

"You can't possibly believe him, look at what he's done, Ron-"

"IF I DON'T KILL YOU, HE'LL KILL THEM!" Ron yelled. "Mum…Dad…Fred & George…all of them."

"Ron, don't do this, I can help…."

"Isn't that what you've been telling the world for the last 7 years? But look, Harry! Nothing's changed! You think I want to do this? You think this is easy for me?"

"Voldemort's not going to leave you in peace. He will make your lives so miserable that you will no longer have the will to live, no longer know the reason you are alive, no longer know why you need to live. Your family will be alive, but dead inside. Sure, we may not live, but without Voldemort we can live happy lives, or at least give our kids a happy life. Ron, don't do-"

"It's either you or my family, Harry!" A single tear rolled down his cheek. "Neither can live while the other survives."

"I thought I was family." Harry said softly. But of course he wasn't. No matter what they said, they never were your brothers. Your parents. Your sister. He never had a family. And he never will.

"I'm sorry, Harry."

"You don't have to do this, Ron."

"Please forgive me."

"Ron, please…" Harry's heart raced. He's been prepared to die, but…

"Avada…"

…he never thought it'd be at his best friend's hands.
