Sora was watching the snow fall onto the window sill, thinking about his numerous encounters with Axel, and how much he actually missed him. Sora was the only one to know that Axel liked using hair gel to keep his spikes, after he became a Nobody. His hair, without gel, would be flat and silky smooth. Like crimson silk flowing over his head and shoulders.

Or, if he picked a fight with Demyx, he would remind the Keyblader of a poofy Persian. Temper included. But Sora would laugh anyway and Axel would always smile. Now…now he was gone. And the brunette will join him soon.

Lung Cancer

That's what Sora had and it was in its final stage. The stage that guaranteed his demise. Everyone was upset, and Sora was too, at the beginning. But now, in pain and misery, he didn't care anymore. He just wanted it to be over. It was bad enough that he lost his energy and hair. Now, sometimes, he thought he'd see Axel standing next to him, smiling or crying. He didn't want to see Axel that way.

He wanted Axel to know that he wasn't running away from him. Axel didn't run from him when the members of the Heartless Corporation came out of an abandoned building to kidnap Sora. It wasn't Axel that fled into the night when their loved one stayed behind to protect him.

The Keyblade Master was guilty of that. But he would see Axel again. And tell him that he wasn't upset. That it was Sora that needed to apologize for running. And with this cancer, he was running out of life.

"Ax..el…I'm…I's sahi…I'll…I…" Sora started coughing up some blood and trying to regain the loss of air to his lungs. He knew it was a matter of time. He was coughing up too much blood and he could barely get any air in him anymore.

Axel…Axel was at the foot of his bed and he was holding his hand out to him. Sora didn't care if the people in the room saw him smile suddenly and weakly lift his right hand. All he saw was Axel in all of his fiery glory.

Sora wasn't running away anymore. This time, Sora and Axel will run away together.

The Keyblade Master grabbed his love's hand and was pulled to him. All the pain, tiredness, misery, and despair vanished in the light and Sora was filled with energy. And with Axel by his side, he knew that he was in Paradise. Grabbing the pyromancer's hand, the Keyblader started running with the red-head in tow.

Sora was never going to run away again. He promised.
