'A study of Teresa Lisbon'

Over the years, Patrick Jane had seen so many sides to Teresa Lisbon that were worth investigating. He was used to the way she threw a stapler when she wanted him to shut up. Or the way she would stretch her neck and back if she had been filling in paperwork for too long.

Now that she wasn't on the other end of the office anymore, but right in front of him, he had even more time to look her over.

She was wearing her hair differently. He loved her beautiful curls and thus was grieving for them, as she now straightened her hair. Yet there was no way she wouldn't look beautiful, so even with her straight hair she took his breath away.

The weight of being a team leader had been completely lifted off of her shoulders and it did her good. She looked more relaxed and she had ample time to smile now. Which she did, and he couldn't help but smile back whenever she flashed her perfect teeth at him.

Only lately he had been granted the pleasure to look at her more intimately. Straight after Marcus Pike had left to DC, without her, she had come running into his arms, and she hadn't left since. That was roughly six months ago.

He loved looking at her while they were making love, her face in the throes of passion was his favorite. The way her skin blushed all over, her spine which arched so lovely, like a lithe little cat might do. She was always cuddly afterwards, wrapping her limbs around him so that all he could feel was Teresa Lisbon.

And even more recently, he started to notice tiny little changes her body was undergoing. This wasn't a post-coital glow that lasted for days, this was something else entirely. His insides were tingling with excitement, and eventually he realized it could only mean one thing. Slightly bigger breasts, a small swell on her belly that didn't use to be there…

She turned around and smiled at him, the way she only smiled at him. It was as though she had read his mind, because she lowered her hand to her belly, stroked it a bit and then nodded, barely discernable.

His Teresa was pregnant. They were expecting a baby. And they hadn't needed words to communicate this time.

After all, he was an expert when it came to studying Teresa Lisbon.
