The heavy rainstorm yesterday caused the streets to be damp and the air to be chill. However, the setting sun today cast a familiar orange glow to the little muggle city which brightened everyone's mood. It was a pleasant change, as the past week was colored in black, white, and gray. Couples strolled along the sidewalks and birds sung sweet tunes high up in the trees. Shop lights were each slowly being shut off, as store owners prepared to go home for the night.

There was a small restaurant called Joe's that sat in the corner of the long street- Spinners End. As the sun continued to set, a young woman flipped off the lights and locked the door from the outside. She shouldered a worn, brown bag and tucked her cell phone between her left ear and shoulder.

"Yes, sis. I'll be there in a few." She sighed into the cell phone as she shoved her shop keys back into her black jeans. "Elizabeth! Don't fret, I'll be getting the milk on my way back. Yes, yes. Low fat, I understand." She rolled her eyes as her older sibling continued rambling about how fat she was and how much weight she needed to loose before her next date in the upcoming month.

While she strode down the gray side walk of Spinner's End, she tilted her head back and let the gentle early-summer breeze untangle her muddy brown hair. It's been too long since she allowed herself to relax. Stopping, she took a deep breath and-

CRACK. She screamed and fell backwards, into the arms of a stranger.

"My word, you shouldn't have apparated to the outside of your house. Muggles could easily see you!" She exclaimed while scrambling to get back on balance and straightened herself. "But thank you for catching me. Aren't you…." She hummed to herself thoughtfully. "Of course- Severus Snape, isn't it?"

There was a long period of silence while Snape raised an eyebrow at the girl's bubbly-ness. "Do you care to enlighten me on who you are, or should we just stand here?" He rumbled while crossing his arms.

"My name's Jane Russell. Oh, you must remember me!" Jane smiled up at him. "When you were in your seventh year, I was that first year who accidently tripped you when you were running. You crashed onto a table, which crashed into the wall. I believe that gave you a broken nose and…?"

"Leg. I broke my leg and sprained an ankle." Severus simmered. "Now if you don't mind, I don't have all the time in the world and there is an urgent task I must tend to." He was lying, trying to get out of the awkward situation.

"Right! I do too." Jane nodded furiously. "My sister will be most angry when she finds I have not retrieved the milk. Anyways, since we're both busy, we should meet another time to… talk. And to get to know each other. More- that is."

"Perhaps." Severus nodded curtly and sneered. "Pleasure seeing you again, Miss Russell."

"And you too, though how we met was rather startling." Jane whispered to herself and made her way around him, giving a pat on his stiff shoulder as she left. Severus turned to watch her walk off, hum to herself, and to go out of her way to step on a bright red leaf. When she turned the corner and was no longer in his sight, he gave a weak smile at the light-headedness of her spirit and personality.
