Silver feather

I cling helplessly to a rock in the middle of the stream on the Windclan border. The freezing water tugs at my sides, and I can barely hang on. My so-called daughter Hollyleaf stands on the side with eyes that show no emotion. It was this foxbrain who pushed me in. She hates me purely for loving Leafpool, the Thunderclan medicine cat. If only we had not had to go back to help her clan, we could have lived together happily, with our kits. Instead I get this, and all I ever did was try to serve my clan.

"Help me out!" I hiss at Hollyleaf, knowing she wont. She just stares at me for a moment then turns and bounds away. I feel my strength ebbing with each passing moment, and know there is no hope for me. I know Feathertail is waiting for me. Suddenly, I hear a yowl I would know from miles away. Hollyleaf must have caught up with Leafpool too. So now both Feathertail and Leafpool are waiting for me. I know Breezepelt will not miss me, and who can blame him? I was never there for him. It hurt just to look at him. I can't hold on any longer, so I let the water take me. It pulls me under water. The water fills my mouth, nose, ears and everywhere. I feel like I have nothing inside me but water. my jaws open in a soundless wail. The edges of my vision darken, and suddenly all I can see is darkness. I can't see anything, yet I feel no fear, only a gentle calm. Then, I open my eyes.

Above me is a dark blue sky filled with countless stars, which glitter brightly. The grass beneath me is crisp and emerald green. The clearing is surrounded by trees which seem to stretch into the sky. On one side of me is Leafpool, and on the other is Feathertail. Leafpool, with her soft, silky fur, stares at me with wide, caring eyes. Feathertail, with her clear, ice blue eyes, gently licks my muzzle.

"Welcome back, Crowfeather," purrs Feathertail whilst both of them start to lick me "Welcome home." I relax against the soft lapping of their tongues. Finally, I have come home.
