Fic prompt... Emma and Regina are reunited and reluctantly admit/realize how much they've missed the other!
Emma and Snow sprawled – there was no other word for it – in some kind of strange reverse motion on the floor, the swirling purple portal coalescing into solid matter once more.
"You did it, mom!" Henry cried, tackling Emma as she struggled to her knees and nearly knocking her back down to the ground. "You brought them back!"
"Hey kid." Emma ruffled his hair fondly, clearly relieved to see him, but her eyes were for Regina alone over the top of the boy's head.
"Emma!" David's bear hug was almost at intense as Henry's, and Emma stiffened a moment before her brain reminded her body that this was, in fact, her father.
"I promised Henry I'd find you."
"You always do." Snow smiled pulled him into a gentle kiss, not willing yet to be separated from her true love. It also freed Emma from the overwhelmingly emotional contact, something she wasn't sure she would ever get used to. However, the distraction had lasted far too long, and when she finally managed to find her feet, Regina was gone.
"I need to talk to your mom, okay?" Henry stared at her curiously, but didn't resist when Emma passed him off to his grandparents. Emma quickly exited the room, Snow watching her go with something between pity and understanding.

Emma knew Regina wouldn't have gone far, and her hunch was confirmed when she found the other woman staring out of the window in her office, her back to the door.
"Miss me?"
Regina whirled around in shock, nearly sending a fireball at Emma out of pure habit. Instead she stalked quickly towards the blonde, a look on her face that reminded Emma uncomfortably flying bark and falling apples. Regina gabbed at Emma's jacket and pushed her roughly against the wall.
"Don't you ever do that again!"
"What, save your life? 'Cause I thought we'd been over that already."
"You have to stop, you can't – what if you had -" died, she didn't say. It didn't matter, because the look on Emma's face told her she understood anyway.
Gently, Emma removed Regina's hands from their death grip on her clothing and held them, although not much more lightly, in her own.
"I told you. I will always save you. Again." She pressed a kiss to Regina's cheek, where a lone tear had tracked its way across the soft flesh. "Again." Her brow. "And again." The corner of her mouth. Emma pulled back slightly. "And if I die..." Regina instigated the kiss this time, unwilling to hear the rest of the sentence. Emma kissed her back, because she really could do nothing else after so long wishing and wanting and missing this infuriating, beautiful, broken woman.
"If I die you'll just have to bring me back. Again."
