I look across the running river

then back again at the silent coffin

there will be no last goodbyes to share

I close my eyes against the tears I feel inside me

the pain that aches and will never leave me

even given the eternity I have

I lift my face to the cold deep winds

They tell me you have left for home

but home for me was always with you

and now you're gone

leaving an empty shell in my memory

it tears into my heart, taking part of me away

unwinding the fastener from around our souls

an unbidden tear falls from my eye

as I remember everything we were

everything that was taken away from us

I set the white flower in your coffin

and hope that on the other side you will remember me

I wish I had the chance to say how much I love you

to fall into your gentle arms once more

although it will never be again, and so I cry for you

And then I mount my horse

Bravely I can fight this battle in life

if I know that you are waiting for me somewhere

And so these tears are the last.
