Chapter One
Professor Eleonora Redbury stood in front of her fourth year Muggle Studies class at the end of their Friday afternoon lesson. The subject had changed significantly since she'd been their age, and they now had a far greater mixture of houses- when she's been in school, there had only been one Slytherin in the class. Now, there were as many Slytherins as there were Hufflepuffs. Professor Redbury smiled.
"I have an announcement to make," she said. Several of her more apathetic students seemed to perk up a little. "You, along with the third and fifth year Muggle Studies classes, are going to be having a class trip to Muggle London for a week. We will be exploring many aspects of Muggle culture, and experiencing them to the fullest by living as Muggles for a week. We will stay in a Muggle hostel and use Muggle transport each day. You will learn to use Muggle money, as well as gaining first-hand insight into how the Muggle world works. Permission slips have already been sent to all of your families. Any questions?"
One hand was raised. Professor Redbury nodded towards the Hufflepuff girl. "How much does the trip cost?" she asked nervously. Mrs Redbury shook her head with a smile.
"This trip has been made possible by a kind donation in the will of a former student who recently passed away. The donation has paid for all accommodation and excursions, as well as leaving £50- that's around 10 galleons- of spending money for each of you. You're all welcome to bring extra spending money, too." she explained. The donation had been made by a former classmate of hers, who, in their time as Muggle Studies students, had lamented the fact that there wasn't an opportunity to live as Muggles for a week or two to better understand the topics they studied. In the man's will, it had said to use the money to 'give the kids a treat'.
The students' voiced began bubbling excitedly and the noise levels rapidly rose. Professor Redbury clapped her hands twice, her usual signal that she wanted silence.
"Next week, a notice will be sent out to all of you whose parents give consent for the trip. We will meet in here with the other years to sort out rooming arrangements," she said as soon as the chatter had stopped. "Class dismissed."
A/N: So, this is an SYOC. There's a link to the character form on my profile page. It's a Next Gen fic, because it makes it easier to find the places to set each chapter. If you have any suggestions of places for them to go, I would love to hear them! I will not accept Mary-Sue characters, but I will accept your own interpretations of the Next Gen Weasley kids. This is set in the school year 2015/16, so some of them would be at Hogwarts, and I'm sure that at least one would be taking Muggle Studies.
The reason this chapter is so short is that it is more an introduction than a chapter. I just needed to avoid having no story and simply giving a character form, because then I'd be violating the rules and the story could be removed.
You may submit as many OCs as you would like. Variety is greatly appreciated.
