February 21, 1993. Bel Air, California. 1:30pm
Will Smith is anxious to leave the Banks residence. He and his uncle have a meeting coming up nearby in Beverly Hills. They needed to find a place more conspicuous so that they wouldn't be seen or heard by any neighbors and friends. Aunt Viv has just gone down for a nap, leaving Will and Uncle Phil a small window of time to leave and return unnoticed.
"Yo, Uncle Phil!" Will shouts. "You ready?"
Uncle Phil comes quickly down the stairs. "Keep it quiet, Will! I don't want your aunt hear us leaving. Quick. Lets head out the front door. I have the Mercedes parked in the street."
As Will and Uncle Phil leave the mansion and enter the car, they see Ashley coming home from a friend's house.
"Hey Daddy! Where are you and Will going?" The two look at Ashley with a darkened look in their eyes. Immediately she knows. "Oh yeah," Ashley looks down. "Another meeting. I hope we find one soon daddy. I hope you like this one."
"Me too sweetie," Uncle Phil replies. "Now if your mother wakes up, where did Will and I go?"
"I know daddy. Will is punished and he's helping you out at the court."
Will and Uncle Phil get in the car and drive off.
"Who do we have this time Will?" Uncle Phil asks while driving. Will pulls a file out of his backpack and opens it. "Hmm, let's see" Will replies. "Daphne Reid. 44 years old. 5'4. Originally from Manhattan." Will continues to leaf through the pages. "She seems to have a clean record Uncle Phil. I don't know. There's something about her I like that I haven't seen in anyone else we interviewed. I mean, she seems normal enough. I could see her pulling this off."
Will pulls out a picture. "What do you think Uncle Phil?"
Phil takes a quick glance.
"Well, she's definitely pretty Will. Not too skinny like Vivian. I like her lighter skin tone too. I could see her being my wife as long as she isn't crazy." Phil pauses. "She looks a little too nice though. Why would she want to be on board with something like this?"
"Jeffrey has given me his full assurance that she's on board Uncle Phil," Will replies. "Trust me. He was very thorough with her. I heard him on the phone. He asked a lot of honest and tough questions, and he said that she blew him away. Besides, we're running pretty low on options. And we're running out of time."
"How much time do you think we have left?" Phil asks.
"We got 'The Baby Comes Out' tomorrow, and then we only have four more episodes. We have to get something done before the season ends!" Will says emphatically. "Do you know what this means for us if we're not able to get away with this? Aunt Viv has got to go!"
"I know Will," Phil replies. "We'll make it through this"
"Where there's a Will, there's a way." Will interrupts.
Uncle Phil nods.
