Being separated just a few weeks after being married sucked, but a job still had to be done whenever and wherever it happened. So she reluctantly left to London to attend an international conference regarding terrorism for few days while he stayed in DC and adapted with his new position as a head of Major Case Response Team, replacing their boss. Right after the conference was done, a short text was sent.
I'm coming home.
She was too tired to expect a quick reply, so she hailed a cab and went straight to the hotel. When she was looking for her key in front of the bedroom, her phone beeped and she checked it right away.
You better hurry up, sweetheart.
She could not help the grin that was formed across her face. She could imagine his puppy eyes and his pleading face. Oh how she missed him. Being a newlywed and not being able to be together was so unfair. Right after she closed the door she replied him.
I'll see you tomorrow, yes?
His reply came in just a few seconds later.
Of course you will. :)
She still wanted to talk with him, but she would not finish packing if she kept on texting, so she did not reply the last message and wished that he would understand why she ignored him. She then took her luggage and start folding her clothes to put them in. Well, the faster she did the packing, the faster she would go to sleep, and the faster she would come back home and saw his beautiful eyes.
It was Friday night when she landed. While she was waiting for her luggage she looked around, hoping to see something interesting to waste time. After a while her eyes fixated to one familiar object. It was him, sitting down on the bench near the exit door. Luckily her luggage came just in time, so she grabbed it fast and ran across the crowd to where he was. He startled at the shadow that blocked his view and so he looked up at the sight of a woman in front of him. He could not control his beaming face and stood up immediately—no, he jumped and his arms were automatically thrown around her waist. She dropped her luggage to the floor and automatically linked her hands at the nape of his neck. She chuckled and said, "Miss me, huh?" He barked a laugh and answered, "Geez, that's an understatement."
Their forehead pressed together; brown meet hazel eyes. They shone so brightly, reflecting their adoration and pure love. The lovers just stood there staring at each other. Eventually he pulled back a bit; slowly kiss her forehead, her eyelids, her nose and her cheeks. She smiled at his action, sighed with happiness and hugged him tight. Finally their lips locked in a long, sweet yet passionate kiss. It was so different with their last kiss that was heartbreaking; this time was definitely better.
"Hi, beautiful wife of mine," he finally caught his voice after minutes of sharing kisses; opening his eyes while beaming at her. "Hi, my handsome husband," she answered with the private smile he loved so much. "I missed you." He tightened one arm around her while the other hand slipped a bunch of hair behind her ear. "I missed you, too." She told him while her fingers were playing with his hair. "Let's go home," he held his hand towards her, and then she gratefully took it; started walking, "Yes, home."
