'Do it'

'You're really bad at this you know?'

'Are you still thinking about jumping?'

'Yes!'

'Then I'd say I'm doing great'

'Arnt you... you not an officer are you?'

'Aw, what gave it away?' the man was grinning. Considering the situation Rhys felt offended, which upset him further because he wasn't suppose to be feeling anything right now.

'You telling me to jump may have tipped me off.'

'If you don't ant to jump why are you standing on the edge of a thirty story building?'

'The view?' the stranger snorted. 'I do want to jump, I'm going to. I just...' why did he stop when he saw this guy behind him?

'You just wanted someone to talk you out of it. That's your problem, right there, cupcake, no commitment. If your gonna jump, jump. Don't let anyone stop you.'

Awful as the advice was, that was sort of inspiring.

'You'd make a good leader.' Rhys said

'I am a leader. This building you wanna kill yourself off of? I own it.' He said this frankly, like it wasn't a big deal for Rhys to be talking to the President of Hyperion. His boss. Former boss? He wasn't dead yet so...

'I didn't think you were real. No one ever sees you and you don't do conferences... so I guess you want me to die somewhere else?'

'Nah, I've been bored, I need some entertainment. Go for it kid, I believe in you.'

Rhys looked down causing ice to cake in his stomach. He didn't want to do this anymore, but he didn't want to live either, he was tired of no one giving a damn, of only existing to carry people who are better off than him. People like the man next to him.

He's starting to back down when he felt a firm hand on his back.

'Let me help you cupcake.' Handsome Jack shoved.

Rhys panic and clung to the mans arm like his life depended on it, because it did. He expected the action to drag Jack over the side with him but when he opens his eyes they are both still on the building, Jacks solid stance having stopped them from talking an awful plunge.

'You mind?' jack said.

Rhys let go realizing he was hugging his boss.

'I-i don't-'

'You don't want to die?'

'I DO!' He doesn't know why he feels the need to defend himself against this.

Jack is looking at him intently and speculatively.

'I have an idea kiddo, how about instead of offing yourself you give your life to me?'

'Why?' Rhys asked.

'Why not? I can make you disappear, whatever has you about to kill yourself wont matter anymore. As for my part in this, I can think of a few thing to do with you.'

The leer is evident in Jacks gaze but also something deeper, something darker. He wanted more than sex. Rhys knew he wouldn't mind sleeping with someone like jack and whatever else he wanted, well Rhys would regret that when he got there.

'Okay.'

'Yes!' Jack whooped as he shot a fist in the air. "that is what daddy likes to hear, you wont regret this, eh, who am I kidding, you are definitely going to regret this, but you can't back out now, I wont let you.' Jack say this playfully but Rhys can hear the very real threat.

'I don't want to change my mind.' Jack ruffles Rhys' hair as he pulls him to the stairs leading inside.

'Good boy. What's you name kiddo?'

'Rhys, sir'
