Chapter 1

A Lullaby In B Flat Minor

He brushed his blonde hair out of his eyes as the tips of his fingers touched each key of the ivory piano gently. "Nothing like a bit of classical music on a Saturday" he happily told himself. He then heard the doorbell ring, something he was used to.

Ding Dong

"It's probably Lucy..." he thought as he stopped playing. "Come in" he exclaimed as the door opened. "Hi Schroeder" a friendly voice said with a yawn. He recognized that voice anywhere. "Marcie, is that you?" he questioned. "How'd you know?" she questioned, laying her head on the piano. "I can recognize a voice a mile away" he teased.

"I'm worn out" Marcie yawned as Schroeder looked at her. "Fine..you can stay if you want" he groaned as he continued playing the piano. It was Chopin's Nocturne in B Flat minor, one of his other favorites; aside from Beethoven. "I never knew you like Chopin" Marcie explained as Schroeder focused on playing the music he devoted his life to learning. "I have OTHER favorite musicians" he responded. "One of them is Chopin. I also enjoy Brahms and Tchaikovsky and Mozart and-" he began, only to be cut off by some gentle snoring.

Schroeder giggled at his friend's snoring. It was gentle like the notes he was playing and quite cute. He stopped playing and came to the conclusion that his music playing lulled her into dreamland. Chuckling to himself, he continued playing the Nocturne. "I also like Hayden, Bach and Wagner" he whispered as his fingers danced on the keys. "Schroeder?" a ruff girl's voice asked.

Looking up, he noticed Lucy Van Pelt. Her hair was the same color as coal and her dress was as blue as the ocean and her expression was what he was expecting. "What's this?" Lucy barked, pointing at Marcie. "Well Lucy...you see..." Schroeder stuttered before leaving the room to relax. "What's the meaning of this?" Lucy questioned him as she followed him like Mary's lamb.

Sitting on his bed, Schroeder noticed Lucy glaring at him angrily. "Oh brother" he thought as he offered her a place to sit. "You blockhead! Did you really think you could replace me with Marcie?" she barked bitterly. "Lucy, I was just playing some music and she came over..I didn't think you'd come over so I let her stay" he honestly replied, guilt in his voice.

"That's it! I'm no longer talking to you! I've gotta pull a football away from Charlie Brown" she grumbled, leaving his house. "She's finally gone" he thought as he sighed in relief. He then walked back to the piano only to be greeted by a white beagle sitting next to Marcie. "Fine, I'll play some music" he explained, giggling gaily. Snoopy looked as Schroeder began playing a song he liked.

Snoopy jumped on top of the piano and began doing his famous happy dance to Beethoven's Moonlight Sonota; a piece of music Lucy once tried singing to. Schroeder sighed at Snoopy dancing to his idol's music, something rare. He then smiled meekly at Marcie who was able to sleep through Lucy's anger rage. "Good grief" he thought as he continued playing music for Snoopy.

Schroeder smiled as Snoopy finished dancing and walked out of the front door. "See you around, Snoopy" the blonde boy explained as he stopped playing and walked towards Marcie. He chuckled as he carefully removed her glasses and put them on top of the piano. he then decided to try playing Chopin's Nocturne again. "No interruptions, no Lucy, no Snoopy; just Chopin and I" Schroeder sighed as he began playing the music.
