Hey everyone. This little bit of Fantastic Beasts fluff was written for September Writing Club's Sophie's Shelf, Book Club, and Character Appreciation. For Sophie's Shelf I wrote for the Other Era Het pairing of 48. Credence/Queenie. For Book Club I used the prompt set of (word) schedule, (object) red rose, and (dialogue) "Please don't leave me unloved.". And for the Character Appreciation I used the prompt from Queenie Goldstein: 17. [Skill] Reading Minds and I used Queenie in my fic. Warnings for mentions of child abuse and mental abuse. If you are uncomfortable with this please turn back turn back now. If you can read these topics I hope you all enjoy Her Schedule.
Credence found himself sitting on corner of the street his mother had assigned him to hand out flyers on. It wasn't that he didn't want to be the dutiful son to his mother. Even though he knew it wouldn't matter what he did she'd still see him as imposition no matter what. But he knew she'd be walking by this way any second on her way to work. He knew her schedule like clockwork.
Just like clockwork as he finished this thought the blonde woman as came to think of her, not actually knowing her name, walked into view. He fidgeted as hand tightened around the red rose in his hand. He knew no self respecting person would care for him. His mother had ground that message into his brain since the day he joined the family. But as he hopefully approached her he hoped not for first time in his life that his mother was wrong.
"A rose for a pretty lady," he said holding out the rose to her.
"Thank you, doll," she said taking the rose as though she got offered roses by random men all the time. "Aren't you just the sweetest though?"
He blushed at this pronouncement. No one had ever been permitted to call him sweet at any point in his life that he can remember. He watched her face turned troubled.
"Is something wrong?" he asked quickly wondering if he had something wrong.
"Just having a sad thought is all. Have we met before? You seem kind of familiar."
He couldn't remember ever meeting her but she did kind of remind him of that one lady he met. But the lady he met had darker hair. Maybe this was a relative of hers.
"Oh," she said eyes widening in realization. "Yes. You met my sister Tina." She pulled him into a sympathetic hug which made him blush all the more harder. "I'm Queenie Goldstien. You must be the boy she told me about Credence. Right?"
He nodded as started walking in step with Queenie. "Yes. I'm Credence Barebone," he told her. "How do you know what I"m thinking?"
"Must be magic, doll," she winked at him as she said this causing him to blush even deeper because his mother would be very mad if she heard that. "Then it's a good thing for me that your mother isn't here." She put the rose to her nose taking in it's scent.
He continued to walk with her in companionable silence. He was just happy to find himself in the presence of someone who didn't want to make him feel bad about himself.
"Well, this is my stop," she said pointing up at a building. "Maybe I'll see you around later?"
He nodded as he scuffed his toe sadly. He wanted to be near Queenie all day if he could. He enjoyed her prescence and the fact that he wasn't being looked down on with her. He waved at her sadly as she made her way towards the building.
"Please don't leave me unloved," he thought as walked away to go back to his corner. Maybe he'd stay there and walk her home tonight. He'd just have to tell his mother he stayed late handing out more flyers.
I hope you all enjoyed Her Schedule.
