Agent Peggy Carter was late to the morning meeting. Such things did not happen often but last night Peggy spent one too many hours looking at Steve's portrait. The one before he became Captain America. Peggy didn't make a habit of obsessing but some days were harder than other when it came to forgetting the greatest man she ever new. In light of this Peggy knew she had to focus on Howard. Since she came back from Russia her coworker treated her a little better but the death of a fellow agent only fueled their anger for stark. An anger only she knew was misplaced.

Peggy stood by the glass doors waiting for a quiet moment to not interrupt the whole meeting. She slipped and and stood by the back behind a cluster of other men. A transfer agent from Los Angeles made eye contact with her and gave her a smirk just as the Chief was declaring the meeting over.

"Hey aren't you Cap's Girl?" he asked boldly causing everyone in the vicinity to stay and listen.

"No I'm not," Peggy said without hesitating. Causing more than a few gasps of shocks followed by quiet mumbling.

The Agent insisted,"No, I remember seeing you oversees. You were chasing after him the day he went on that rescue mission. Did you give him a kiss goodybe?"

Normally she would have laughed this off and gave a sarcastic non answer but today she just couldn't. She was tired of, well she was tired of just about everything. "No Agent, I was following him to remind him that he was in fact breaking direct orders and to tell him the location of the civilian pilot he should use. His name was Howard Stark, I believe you've heard of him?"

The response didn't faze him,"he continued orders huh. You must be pretty used to following orders being Cap's Girl and all."

Her patience wore thin as her hangover increased it's hold on her, making her act in ways she normally would consider irresponsible. She clenched her fists and retorted "How is it you all so easily forget that I was his superior?". Her brain tried to tell her to stop speaking but she just couldn't take it anymore. "Let me set the record straight. I'm not Cap's girl, no I MADE the man you know as Captain America. I chose him, I trained him, and I pushed the god damn button that injected the serum turning a man you probably would have laughed at into the man you revere!" Well Peggy didn't exactly push the button but she felt the imagery would work in her favor.

She looked directly at Thomson, "I am not some pencil pusher or your damn secretary. I've gotten rid of more threats than the rest of the office combined. I don't need any recognition but some basic respect is long overdue."

"I'm taking a sick day," she said to no one in particular before casually walking out. Only the click of her heels could be heard while the rest of the agents took time to comprehend her uncharacterly outburst.
