Chapter 1
A Dream
The two men are walking in complete darkness, yet it is getting even darker. There is a chill in the air and a dark cloud over their heads. Past the outskirts of town, an abandoned house sits with a single light on. This house has deep engravings of birds going around every side. The most extravagant one is above the solid oak door, a vulture carving initials into a thick maple tree; it is too high for the men to see the initials from the ground. They go up to the house though the shorter man tries to back away but the taller and thinner of the two holds him back. The taller man, takes out a stick of some sort, it is very wand like. He flicks his wrist and the door lights up, seconds before it burns down into a pile of ashes. The shorter man stares at him in awe as they enter.
The two men walk quietly through a long foyer. A single door sits at the end with a man in a throne like seat. This seat like no other has bird carvings going all around the legs and the base of the seat and on the top of this throne is a statue of a vulture, the same vulture from the carving above the door outside. The man who sits in the throne is like no other. He has dark black eyes and bird like features and speaks in a hushed, yet cold voice. He too has a wand, though his is longer and darker. It appears to be made of the finest of oak, carved bird claws wrapped around the body of the long, dark oak stick. Neither man dare look him in his dark, cold, black eyes.
In a hushed voice he says, "Bring him to me". The taller man stares with a blank face, not knowing what to do. He speaks with a crack in his voice, "My dear, dear lord, why him? I honor your choice but there is proof he his is not as reliable as the others". The smaller man tries to back slowly away. But the man of bird features speaks with what sounds almost like a squawk dragging him back with the pointing of his wand. He forces him to show his lower right arm; revealing a small golden ring indented into his skin. The man of bird features takes a boney figure and touches the golden ring. The man gives a loud scream. He is a rider of dragons.
