At the McBride House...

Clyde sat on his bed, entering a mmorpg known as "Extra Credit" as his character, a Lv 13 Rebel Rogue. "Okay, I got that questline finally completed!" the dark-skinned nerd remarked in relief. "Now I just need to find a spot where I can teleport back home and-"

Suddenly, the night arrived in the game, which caused the game to stop and pan out to reveal a shadowy figure standing a couple feet away from his character. "Oh great, who is the rebelslayer this week?" the boy asked as he clicked the character.

And when he got a menu and pressed "chat", he got a shock when the person on the other end was none other than-

"Mrs. Johnson?!"

"Oh, greetings Clyde," the woman said with a wide, seemingly oblivious smile. "I didn't expect you to be playing this game."

"I could say the exact same thing about you, to be honest," the student answered, scratching the back of his head. "I thought you were back at the school, charging your batteries like the average teacher. That's how teachers work, right?"

The woman chuckled at the idea. It was a decent laugh, to say the least. "Oh Clyde, teachers most definitely don't work that way," the redheaded woman answered, cracking her knuckles. "We also have lives outside of school, and I'm taking some free time out of my schedule to play this little game."

"Huh, I wonder how long you've been playing it," the boy said before he checked the woman's character.

She was level 64, basically over 50 levels above his own. "Yeah, I should probably go back home."

"Not if I catch you first," Mrs. Johnson jokingly replied.

Clyde's character ran as fast as he could to the lower levels of the setting, while Mrs. Johnson closely followed him in the shadows. Literally. To save time, the rogue simply jumped down the stairs instead of walking down, and then sped up when the shadows started to approach him.

"You know, Clyde, I expected to find you playing as a student or Resistance member, and not a rebel," the redheaded woman remarked as her character jumped out of the shadows and prepared to strike. "Can you give me an explanation as to why this is the case?"

Then Clyde's character jumped to the ceiling, narrowly dodging the attack. "Well, I just wanted to play with people's expectations, you know?" he answered as he ran on the ceiling. "I mean, a scrawny kid with glasses like me, playing as a rebel? Who would've seen that coming?"

Mrs. Johnson chuckled. "I probably would've, had I known you were playing this game earlier," and then they saw the entrance to the setting, with an icon of a house above it. "Oh look, there's the home point. Think you can get there before I delete your character?"

"Just watch me!" the boy said with determination.

And so the rebel rogue ran even faster as Mrs. Johnson's character gave chase. But alas, just as she reached him, Clyde's character returned home.

"Yeah! I escaped the school on time!" Clyde exclaimed victoriously. "What do you have to say about that, Mrs. Johnson?"

"Well done, Clyde," Mrs. Johnson replied with a giggle. "See you in class tomorrow."

The woman left just as Clyde took a deep breath, laughed, then logged off as well.
