Let go

Let go

A/N: I can't forget about Yuki! :)

XOXOXO

Kuran Yuuki lay down, all fours stretched out, her hair disheveled, and with the taste of blood in her mouth. It wasn't a bad taste, but it didn't exactly make her excited or want more…at the moment.

Her eyes were wide open. She stared blankly at the ceiling, thinking, but not showing it. Thinking about how much she wanted to leave the room that Kaname had told her to stay in, about how she was no longer a human, about what Zero was doing.

No longer human. She repeated in her head. It was at that moment did something die inside of her. It wasn't the human part of her, that had died already, but the thought that she could live a normal life. Unless drinking blood and finding out that you're engaged to your brother counted as normal. Which, obviously, it didn't.

Yuuki closed her eyes, and set her arm over them. She then smiled bitterly, which was soon replaced with bitter laughter. She felt so different, and yet so much in her element. It was a strange, but inspiring feeling.

For a moment, she set her arm down back beside her and opened her eyes. She could feel her fangs with her tongue. Blood was still evident on the tips, but she didn't make an effort to clear it away.

For some reason, her actions triggered the thoughts of her best friend. What would she think of her now? Would the relationship still be the same? Yuuki settled her eyes to where they were almost closed. It pained her to think about it, so she stopped. She didn't want to think about it. But, she knew the longer she prolonged her thoughts about the reality of the situation, the harder it would be for her to let go. She also knew that that would be one of the most difficult things she had ever done in her life.

Part of her still wanted to be human. To go to the day class, to be a prefect, to do all of the things that now, she could no longer do. The other part of her wanted to experience life as an immortal being. To discover things that had been unknown to her, to find out more about herself and her true origins. It was very tempting, but she knew she didn't have a choice.

And then she started to laugh bitterly again. When she thought about it, or rather everything, it was miserably funny. Not that kind of funny where everybody laughs, but the kind of funny only you understand, only you would laugh at.

She laughed until her stomach started to hurt, and then she started to cry. And that made her want to start laughing again because she had never seen a vampire cry. The word flashed in her mind, and she stopped laughing, because it wasn't funny anymore, if it had ever been in the first place.

"Vampire…" She whispered, and when she did she tasted blood, a component that she knew she would crave in the near future, and probably would until the end of her life.
