As she walked trough the damp night forest, she inhaled every delicious, earthy scent of her surroundings. She heard a faint heartbeat about a mile away. She inhaled deeply now, calculating slowly her fast hunt. In a matter of seconds, her incredibly sharp teeth were on the neck of the near-dead deer.
She replayed in her head the beauty of hunting. her fast but delicately ferocious run through the deep forest; the night breeze caressing her brown cascading hair. She spotted the deer, feeding on leaves. She pinpointed the pulsating spot under the jawline;the deer's heartbeat quickened as it caught a glimpse of her silhouette racing towards it. By then it was too late; her full lips curled over her glistening teeth, a slow snarl ripping through. Her teeth cut through the skin, savoring the warm blood that entered her whole body. As she was finishing, she felt shivers down her spine, sensing someone near. It wasn't human, for there was a silent whoosh instead of a heartbeat. No delicious gushing of the heart quivering as blood went in and out. How strange, she thought. She immediately stiffened and dropped the drained deer as the scent of this-what was it?-person...?grew stronger. Sweet, citrusy, delectable, but not in a feeding way.
He then appeared. His deep, black hair glistened as the moonlight brushed his wavy hair. He had an amusing expression on his eyes, almost childish, even with his masculine facial features. He had a beautiful face. Strong cheekbones, almond-shaped eyes framed by a thick array of long eyelashes, hiding the most alluring shade of hazel eyes. Lust corroded for the first time through her, filling every dead particle of her body. His jaw was strong, but not too thick. His lips were not as full as hers, but they were very appealing. His chest was bare, olive-toned,and muscled in the right places. Under his abdomen were marked hiplines, ending where his leather pants were snug on him, tight at his toned quads. His legs were long, showing many years of leg exercise. His feet were also bare like hers, but they were impeccable, like if he were walking through clouds, not the floors of a muddy forest. If she had a heart, it would stop then start beating embarrassingly loud. He smiled,a welcoming grin that added a glint in his eye, showing his perfect, white teeth. His dimples digging thick into his cheeks, a slow chuckle rose from his chest, as he read her surprised expression.
"hello beautiful stranger,my name is Alexander, but you can call me Alex." she opened her mouth, attempting at words, sounds, anything. She was left speechless by his enchanting voice; deep, husky, but playful. "umf," was all she managed to say. He tilted his head to the side with an amused grin, confused. He ran a hand through his silky dark mane, and she had an urge to step forward and do the same. She was frightened at what she saw, what she had done-or hadn't for that matter-and most importantly, what she felt. She was so confused she had to do something.
She turned her heel and sped off, hearing his chuckling getting further and further away from her. She ran faster than when she fed on the deer. Faster than anything.. "there's danger all over him, but I like it" she decided. she passed a low tree, and felt a leaf fall on her, tangling in her hair. She felt it as she left the forest, slowing down as she neared a familiar house. She crouched, preparing to jump into a window that welcomed her, then everything went black.
Rachel woke up startled, curled up next to her window, curled up on the floor. That was such a bizarre dream, she thought. She stretched out her body, feeling that it was quite unnecessary. Why am I out of bed? Hmm... maybe I sleepwalked.
As she recoiled from her stretch, a forest leaf fell from her hair.
