Hugo Weasley lays on his bed in his room with the lights out because he couldn't get a wink of sleep. He's wide awake and nothing can take the sharp edge off his mind. Tomorrow is exam day for everyone at Hogwart's and even though Hugo has studied as hard as he possibly can, so much so that he can name every Goblin that ever participated in the old wars.
His parents, mostly his mum will never let him come back to Hogwarts if he receives anything less than Exceeds Expectations. His dad will try to comfort her, but the disappointment is clear in her face and she always forgets to tell us that she's proud of us despite the less than satisfactory marks. He's exaggerating a lot, but sometimes it feels like what he says is the truth, last year Hugo received one Acceptable and mum bought Rose the more expensive gift. He doesn't think she did it intentionally, but still it kind of hurt him inside.
He throws the covers off and straightens his flannel pajamas and goes to the window. Right outside the window Hugo has the telescope that his dad bought him for his birthday last year, and he still uses it to this day. He didn't know back then that he loved astronomy, but apparently it was obvious.
Dad said it was because he was a dreamer with his head in the clouds, and that he likes to imagine things. Louis thinks it's because the world is infinite and goes beyond all understanding, the stars don't wait on gravity in space, and the sun's light can't be contained. Things that hold us down in the real word like time and physics, don't affect unearthly objects.
A white ball of light with a shimmery tail cuts through the sky with fervor, leaving behind a curtain of light. A hope in the darkness for Louis and quickly he closes his eyes and wishes that him and his sister can both do well on their exams for their parents sake and for themselves.
