A/N This story is for Smile Life Away, who is the frequently gone and most loved one, and her challenge in the NextGen Fanatics Forum!

A high-pitched chime went off as Lily walked into Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlor, attracting the attention of all the other ice cream lovers who were in the store. She waved them off as she walked two little kids, a blond boy and girl, over to the counter.

Upon arriving at the counter, the boy and girl pressed their faces against the display glass and ooh-ed and aah-ed at all the different kinds of ice cream. Lily let them be and turned to the old man behind the ancient golden cash register.

"Hello, Florean." Lily greeted as she brought out her purse. These kids are going to make me pay.

"Hello, Miss Lily. I haven't seen you in here for a long time. I was beginning to think that you'd already grown up and moved away!" Mr. Fortescue joked, adding a wheezy laugh at the end. Lily laughed politely as she turned her attention back to the kids.

"Do you know what you guys want?" Lily asked, hoping they wouldn't say one of everything. The two kids just stood there and continued to stare in awe at the multi-colored ice cream.

"Gabriel? Abigial? Come on, guys. There are other people in line."

Finally, Lily got them to order two cones with three scoops of treacle rocky road. She had gotten a vanilla cone for herself.

When they got their ice cream, Lily led her babysitting charges to a booth in the corner by the window. She made sure to grab extra napkins.

Five minutes into their ice cream, Abigail's cone was already melting all over her hand. Lily promised to go get more napkins, hoping that Abigail wouldn't start crying when she was gone.

Back at the counter, Lily kept ripping more and more napkins out of the holder. She glanced over her shoulder to make sure Abigail was doing all right.

"Geez, got enough napkins?" A deep voice asked Lily. When she turned back, she saw Scorpius Malfoy, standing in front of her with a mocking smile on his face.

"Probably not." Lily retorted. She grabbed all of the napkins she pulled out and went back to her booth.

Abigail was so fussy that she wouldn't let Lily help her. All she would do was bang her hands on the table and tell Lily that she wanted to go home, causing even more ice cream to dip onto Abigail and her new dress.

By this time, Gabriel's ice cream was melting too so he expected Lily to help him get cleaned up but she couldn't since she was trying to get Abigail cleaned up. Plus, all the people around her had stopped eating their ice cream to look over at their booth.

Lily was just about ready to give up when Scorpius came over, set his bowl of ice cream down, grabbed Gabriel, and took him to the bathroom to get washed up. Without Gabriel there, there was no one to encourage Abigail to keep whining so she quieted down long enough to let Lily clean her hands.

When Scorpius and Gabriel came back, Abigial was calmly finishing her ice cream and Lily was throwing away all the used napkins. Scorpius met up with her at the trash can.

"Thanks so much for your help." Lily said as she tossed the last of the napkins.

"No problem. So do you babysit them often?" Scorpius asked as they walked back to the booth.

"Only during the summer. They live in our neighborhood and their parents aren't around a lot. Plus, I needed a little extra money this summer."

"Oh. Do you come here often?"

"Not anymore. I used to come all the time as a little girl with my dad but I just can't anymore."

"Well, what about if you and I come back here next week?"

"I'll be sure to bring the kids." Lily joked.

"Maybe next time, we should ditch the kids." Scorpius replied.

"You've got yourself a deal."
