Another short but sweet story. This one's dedicated to Strife4908 whose recent FFVII story made me want to write FF fics. And also to spawnspectre who was my first friend on FanFiction and has expressed his love for my fluffy fics. Take a bow you two! The bold and italic words are like Yuna's narration from the game. Please read and review!
She stared out at the sky while standing on the deck of the Celsius. She closed her eyes, feeling the wind finger through her hair. She slowly opened her eyes, one blue and one green. His image was gone. His scent was gone. His voice was gone.
Things have gone back to normal… well, as normal as can be expected. Can any day be considered normal without you here with me? She dared to look down to the land and sea below. She could see the blitzball stadium in Luca, all lit up and filled with cheering fans. She remembered once being part of them. I had… hoped someday I could watch you… I… hope that day comes soon…
She stepped back from the edge and took a seat. The sky seemed so empty to her… why did it seem to resemble her? She felt like if she stared long enough, he would appear. But she blinked and he didn't show up. Why? Why can't I see you? I know what you look like… what you smell like… what you sound like… what you feel like… what you taste like… So why?
Everything about you… you, the one I love… is slowly becoming a memory… But I don't want it… to fade away… so I will treasure every moment I had with you… until we can make new memories...
Rikku walked out of the elevator towards her cousin. "Yunie, we were getting worried about you! Come on, let's go back inside." She stood there for a moment, looking at Yuna. The ex-summoner looked sadly out at the sky. Rikku is my best friend, but sometimes… I wish she would stop talking… if only for a moment… Not because I don't want her to talk to me… but because I can feel your voice fade away into a memory… and somehow as I strain to hear it, Rikku and all my friends' voices seem to snuff it out…
"Hey, you gotta leave that in the past… move on with life, you know? He wouldn't want to see you moping around because of him…" The blonde left her cousin to sort out her thoughts.
Some of my friends think that I should move on like all the others do… But, why should my story have the same ending as all the others'? After all, I'm still waiting… waiting for the time where I can see you… can smell you… can hear your voice… can feel you… can taste you… But until then… I'm listening for your whistle…
Yuna closed her eyes for a moment then looked back to the sky. She placed her fingers in her mouth and blew. When she heard no response, she turned to the elevator and headed back inside the airship. She went inside and didn't hear the boy whistle back to her…
