James Potter and the Boy Who Lived

I don't own anything.

Summary:

James Potter has never lived his own life. He's never known his father had gone through so much, owned a cloak of invisibility, or a strange map of Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. All James knows is a happy life with his family, parents and two siblings, and the many other relatives he grew up with. James knew there were two wizard wars that ended in deaths of his family and family friends but not much than that, and he hasn't asked about the war in years.

But all that is about to change when his Hogwarts letter arrives by owl messenger: a letter that opens that path to a new world he always dreamed of living in. There he finds not only friends, magic, and adventure, but a great story that's been waiting for him to be told…if James can bear to hear it.

Chapter 1 James Sirius Potter

Mr. and Mrs. Potter, of the wizard world were proud to say they fought in the last wizard war against Voldemort. They were the last people you'd expect to have fought in anything so dangerous or scary, because they just seemed so happy.

Mr. Potter was the Head Auror of the Ministry of Magic, which protected innocent people from dark magic and the like. He was a small, raven-haired man with astonishing green eyes and a strange lightning bolt scar on his forehead. Mrs. Potter was beautiful and red-headed with chocolate brown eyes and expecting a son. The Potters had a seven year old godson called Teddy and in their opinion there was no boy loved more than he.

The Potter had everything they wanted, but they also swore kept their children hidden from the past, and their greatest fear was that their children or nieces and nephews would have to suffer the things they went through. They didn't think they could bear it if anyone tortured or attempted to murder one of their sweet kids. They told them little to protect them.

When Mr. Potter was sent away early from work our story starts, there was nothing about the day to suggest it would be so delightful. Mr. Potter asked his coworker and best friend, Mr. Weasley thousands of questions and he was dragged from his office and taken to St. Mungos.

"Ron, what are-" Mr. Potter growled. "Where are we going?"

"Shut up! Ginny is in labor!" Mr. Weasley snapped back at him.

"My wife is in labor!" His eyes widened and he broke into a run. "Hurry, I can't miss the birth of my son!"

At half past noon, Mrs. Potter had calmed down, held a sleeping, raven-haired baby in her arms as family gathered around to take a peek at the newest addition to the Potter-Weasley family.

The doors of the medical room opened once more and Mr. Potter nearly snapped. If one more Medi-Witch entered… But it wasn't a medi-witch. It was young Teddy Lupin, their lovely godson, his turquoise hair skipped in, Grandmother Andromeda followed just behind him. Teddy moved past all the red-heads and to the side of the bed, gazing down at his new God-brother with curiosity shining in his eyes.

Teddy laughed. "He looks like you, Harry. What's his name?"

Things were silent for a few moment. Everyone knew that the naming process of this young child went on and on with fights. There were so many possibilities. They wanted to honor someone with his name but didn't want him to be tormented for life because of it. What were they going to name him?

"James," said Mrs. Potter, taking a hand ruffling the baby's full head of messy hair.

"James Sirius Potter," Mr. Potter beamed. "You'll be a good big brother for him to look up to, won't you Teddy?"

Teddy nodded with a shy smile earning a few chuckles from various people.

"And Ron and Hermione will be the most brilliant Godparents, besides myself at least," stated Mr. Potter not giving Hermione nor Ron a chance to speak before he began chatting away with Arthur and Molly.

"'Arry," another voice spoke up. Everyone look toward the tallest man in the room. His tangles of bushy black hair and beard hid most of his face. "With that name 'ell be the best prankster in a long line. He's like you, you know, looks just like his father but with his mother's eyes." With that said the room erupted in echoing laughter.

This boy was going to be a handful, named after two overachieving pranksters and related to the owner of Weasleys Wizard Wheezes, not to mention he had Hermione and Ron Weasley as Godparents. It was his determined fate.

"To James Sirius Potter!" Everyone raised their glasses of Butterbeer, pumpkin juice, or Firewhiskey depending on their age and preference of drink or if they happened to be pregnant or not and called out congratulations to the new parents.
