It was Lily's first day back to Hogwarts in her 7th year, and she'd just found out the terrifying news that JAMES POTTER had been made head boy.

Lily lay in her bed, thinking about all this mess she was in. It had been her dream for so long, to be head girl, but now this was turning out into a nightmare, if it meant that she had to do all this together with Potter.

He was an arrogant, selfish and immature git, together with those idiots of friends..doing one prank after another, not taking any responsibility for their actions, not caring about anyone else, except themselves...she groaned, and turned around, trying to fall asleep instead of thinking about the annoying, ignorant...

it was hopeless!

„Alice this is horrible. The worst that could happen. I'm seriously thinking about drowning myself in my cereals right now."

Alice laughed, at the though of that, but quickly stopped, when she saw Lily's face, since she looked like she was about to drown her best friend, if that said best friend wouldn't stop laughing. Alice laughter dried away and went into mumbling: „It's only because you fancy him!"

W h a t d i d y o u j u s t s a y ?" Lily looked ready to murder, and it didn't seem as tough she was needing her cereals for that.

„Lily your 17 now, it's getting time that you seriously grow up. The only reason why you're acting like this, is because you don't want to admit that you are actually quite fond of him." Lily looked outrages, so Alice quickly continued to talk, praying that her best friend won't start screaming at her in the middle of the great hall.

„If you really wouldn't care for him..." „I don't!" „...and if he would really annoy you so much..." „He does!" „...then", she said with a triumphant smile „you wouldn't be soo pissed, at the thought of you two being the head girl and boy."

Lily hesitated, trying to follow he friends logic, which could be quite difficult from time to time, but today, Alice was in the mood to help her friend, come to the same conclusion as she did.

„You simply wouldn't care, you wound't look at him every 5 second, even if you are only shooting deathly looks at him, you wouldn't wake up in the morning thinking about him, even if it is only for the reason of finding out, what he's going to be doing on that particular day to annoy you, you wouldn't lay awake in the evening, trying to fall asleep while he's on your mind the whole time." Alice stopped the flow of words that had been coming out of her mount and breathed for the first time, since she's started.

„You can't deny it Lily, you really like him. And care for him. I can see it. The way you look at him when you think no one's watching you, the way you say his name when your asleep, murmuring it all over again."

Lily looked at her friend rather puzzled, her jaw wide open. At first she had the urge to slap her. Or throw the cereals at her. But the longer she sat there, the more the word Alice had said could make their way through to her mind, and she had to admit that Alice got a point there. She did care for him, she did care about what he did and thought, of what he thought about her. She thought about the way he used to look at her in 6th grade. That weren't those cheeky grins anymore, it were honest smiles, with no double meaning, and she adored him in these moment, before quickly recalling that she hated him to her memory. When he got of his broom after a Quidditch match, she had sometimes not felt the urge to strangle him, but rather to hug him, for flying so brilliantly and saving points for the house cups. But until today, she simply couldn't admit it.

But now there was no point denying anymore. She really did fancy James Potter.

„Alice" she said in a small voice „have I gone mentally ill?" at that was when she let her head fall onto the table right into her cereals.
