"So… anyway, you know steel pokémon, right? I mean, obviously you must. You have defeated me in battle… um…" Steven blushed. He was now showing the extent of his social awkwardness to poor Brendan who was sitting across from him in Mauville Food Court, a confused look plastered across his beautiful face.

"Ah, yep, sure do."

"Of course, sorry."

Brendan nodded. "I know what you were gonna say."

"You do?"

"Of course. Obviously you were going to tell me how amazing you think steel Pokémon are."

"I guess I am that predictable…" he mused, brushing his fringe back with his long fingers. "Do you know what else is amazing?" Steven asked.

"Knowing you the answers rocks or something of the like."

Steven smiled. "Well, you might find this amusing, but my answer was going to be you."

Brendan blushed. "Y-you gonna compare me to a Pokémon or some rocks now?" he asked shyly.

"I am sure I can. You are strong like a metagross, graceful like a skarmory, and beautiful like the most prized stone in my collection."

Brendan's blush deepened. "So… you were hitting on me?"

"I was supposed to be asking you out, yes" Steven admitted, his own blush deepening.

Brendan chuckled. "Well, thank you for the compliment Steven. They were very uniquely you. I don't think, I have been compared to any of these things before. So yeah… thanks."

Steven looked at Brendan, almost pleadingly. Would Brendan say yes or no, or would be just pretend the older trainer had said nothing?

Brendan took another bite of lunch. He chewed, swallowed, and then looked at Steven, smiling. "It's a yes by the way."
