A/N: Ficlet from lord-of-the-song on tumblr: Caskett stuck in traffic while heading to the Hamptons. Set summer between seasons 5 and 6
"Tell me again why you thought it was a good idea to leave, on a Friday, at 4:00?" Beckett lifted her legs and crossed them campfire style.
"I didn't know it would be this bad." Castle said as he looked out the rear passenger window to switch lanes.
Beckett rolled her eyes then looked out her window. "It's been over an hour and we're not even out of the city, we've barely even gone 10 miles."
"Would you just relax? I don't want to start our last weekend together with us fighting." Beckett turned to look at him and saw him already looking at her. "It's just traffic and it's not like we are in any hurry."
"All I want is to spend the weekend in the Hamptons with my fiance. No interuptions. No work. No mothers. Is that too much to ask for?"
"No," he put his hand on her knee, "it's not and we will have our weekend. I promise." He took his hand off her knee and pointed past her. "What if we stop in there for an early dinner? By the time we're done, I bet the traffic will have lightened up."
Beckett looked toward the small diner, contemplating the offer, then looked back at Caslte. "Fine."
Castle pulled into a curbside parking space and they started getting out. When they were almost to the door, Castle spoke. "Can we still go to the karaoke bar tonight?" He opened the door for Beckett.
"Don't push your luck, babe."
