Disclaimer : I don't own anything to do with the movie, or anything else associated with it. I'm just borrowing it for a while. ;)
Dedicated to Raye.
Author's Notes : This is a short fiction from A MAN APART. I'm posting it in this section because there isn't one for the movie yet, but hey, it's Vin Diesel:) This is set during the movie, before Sean sets out after Diablo with the 'gang.' Basically, it's just his thoughts about the situation. A quick plunge in the mind of Sean Vetter.
WARNING : SPOILERS! Nothing too specific, but if you don't wanna know anything prior to viewing the movie, then you have been warned.

There was a time in my life when this would have seemed normal. When I wouldn't have ever thought twice about what I was about to do. But there was also a time. . . when I thought I'd come past all that. There was a time when I would have looked in the mirror and said, 'Sean, you're crazy.'
But they took away my reason for thinking like that. I guess in a way, it's kinda like going back in time. I gave up my old life. . . gave it up for something better. And they used it against me.
Now. . . This is my life. And I have to make due with what's left of it. But they will not win this fight. They won't get away with this. Because they made one mistake when they came here.
Diablo. . . What does that mean to me? Just a name, something that's passing on the streets right now. But I'm not smelling drugs anymore. I'm smelling blood.
I look around at my house. . . our house, and I see an empty shell. I don't see a home anymore. Just a place riddled with bullets and condemned by God. Lying all alone in the center of the floor there's a tall, cylindrical candle, dented on the sides and warped now. Her candle. It was her hobby, an intricate part of her life he'd come to adore. Everything about her was perfect. She was beautiful, sensual, soft, and warm. She had it all.
We had everything.
In less than the blink of an eye, everything fell through my fingers like water through a sieve. Like her blood on my hands.
Somebody once told me that God has a reason for everything. I look at this place and I wonder. . . Where was God when she was lying in a pool of her own blood? Where was God her beautiful eyes glazed over in pain as her life slowly ebbed? Where was God when those bastards took her from me?
She didn't deserve to die. I couldn't protect her, I couldn't stop them. I couldn't save her.
They will pay for what they've done. There is no God here, not anymore. I couldn't save her. But I will see the end of her murderer. This time it will be their blood on the walls. I want to see his eyes when he dies. I want him to know who took it all from him.
I don't care if they help me anymore. If I have to, I'll go alone. It doesn't matter as long as they pay.
Like I said, they made one big mistake when they came here.
When they left. . .
I was still breathing.

Author's Notes : Hope you enjoyed this one. Let me know what you think. For anybody following my xXx story, Y451, I had hoped to get the next update online today, but my homework didn't seem to go with me on that idea. However, I promise that the next update will be up soon! Thanks!
Sincerely,
