Disclaimer: I OWN NOTHING.
Author's Note: Another prompt oneshot! President Shinra/Hojo/Trust.
This felt a little weird to write. Maybe it's because I don't like either of the characters... I can honestly say that I did my best, but did I really capture President Shinra's personality accurately?
Trust?
It had been months since Professor Gast ran off with our latest experiment. Good riddance, I say. He was leaching too much money from me with his pointless experiments, anyway. Gast was a failure of a man who didn't know how to separate business from pleasure. A mistake that will cost him his very life once I get my hands on him. Discretely, of course, not that it matters. I may own the media, but those little resistance groups are really starting to become a troublesome thorn in my side. Anymore fuel, and those little roaches will start crawling from under the carpets, and who will be left to crush them? Me, of course. I always have to clean up my employee's incessant mistakes. As the saying goes, if you want something done right, do it yourself.
Since then, I've hired a new scientist. One that I hope will carry my company's best interests to heart. He's a sleazy looking man with the appearance of a commoner, but no matter, he will never have to show his face to the public. Already he has begun work on new methods to improve the military. Originally, I doubted the possibilities of such experiments, but once he showed me the results... I must say I was surprised. Mere human beings turned into incredibly strong super humans just by the simple injection of a specimen's cells into their bloodstreams. Of course, some suffer and become heavily mutated, ending in a terrible death, but then some must be sacrificed for the good of others. They should be honored to give up their lives for the greater purpose my company serves. I often wonder about his sanity, however. After all, he was willing to use his own unborn son as a test subject.
Hopefully, he'll assist in making Shinra control the entire world. We're surely well on our way. All that remains of the world's independence is a small little backwoods country. I would let them be, their size is truly laughable, but the mako is so abundant there, it's too good an opportunity to pass up. How strong could they be against this new army anyway? Our scientist assures me the new soldiers will be able to overcome any obstacle. He claims they can survive through the worst and still be fully functional. There's just one thing that worries me. A nagging feeling buried deep in the corners of my mind... I always get the impression that he has some darker motive for being here. I trust his words and promises completely, but do I trust the man that speaks them?
