As she headed down the corridor to the debriefing room, she heard ecstatic yelling coming from the BLU base and the sound of glass bottles being toasted. She allowed herself a small smile realising that it must have been an impressive victory for the team to be in such high spirits. Starting her walk again however a voice called out to her in a familiar Boston accent.
"Hey, ah, Miss pawling?"
"Yes, Scout?"
"Well, you uh, you seemed a little lonely out here. Thought I'd, uh, invite you in to celebrate a bit with me and the others?" She could tell he was nervous from the hesitancy in his voice that disrupted his usually faster vocal style.
"Scout what do you think I'm going to say? I have work to do. You go have fun you earned it today." she rewarded him with a smile for his efforts and went to carry on down the corridor.
Scout stood for a second unsure what to do, he seemed to come to a conclusion in his mind and she heard light, fast steps approaching her.
"... Ah, hey wait Miss Pauling?"
She turned around but wasn't prepared for scout to pull her into a hug. She was obviously confused at what had just happened.
"I just wanted to let ya know that, well, the whole team is grateful that you're here for us even if no one says it to ya face." He let go of her and backed a few steps away quickly, his nervousness setting back in to his facial expression. She fixed her glasses where scout had nudged them in the hug and sighed.
"Scout it's nice to see you when you're sweet like this, I prefer it sometimes to your usual energy. I might drop by a bit later when I'm done, ok?"
"Miss Pawling I'd love that. I mean we all would, not just me...not to say I don't love ya... but...I better get back. They'll be missing me..." and he turned and sprinted down the corridor at a speed no one else could match.
She smiled as she saw him go. Maybe sometime soon she'd...Nevermind, her mind was wandering when she had a job to do.
