ROBIN'S SECRETARY: Miss Scherbatsky, your sister, Katherine, called from Vancouver. It sounds very urgent. Here's the number. [Hands Robin a piece of paper]
ROBIN: Thanks. [pulls out the slimmest lightest smartphone ever and punches the number] Hello, Katie? It's Robin. What's up? Why did you call?
KATIE'S VOICE: Hi, Robin. It's about Dad, he's sick and in the hospital. Dr. Stuyvesant says that he may not be with us much longer. Dad wants to see you one more time before he says goodbye. Please try to get the next flight here as soon as possible.
ROBIN: Oh my god, I will. [hangs up, dials again] Hello, Air Canada? Please get me on the next flight from JFK to Vancouver. It's urgent. My father is on his deathbed. [Runs out of the recording room]

Mosby Living Room. August 5, 2030. Ted, Penny, and Luke are seated on the sofa.
TED: Ready to see Aunt Robin?
PENNY and LUKE: [separately] Of course. No other anchorperson like her.
PENNY: When I'm an adult, I want to be a journalist just like her. [grabs remote an clicks on TV]
[we see the TV screen. Sandy Rivers is on the screen.]
SANDY RIVERS: Hello, this Sandy Rivers filling in for Robin Scherbatsky…
LUKE: Ugh. I hate that douchebag!
TED: That makes three of us, son! [grabs phone] Call Robin.
ROBIN'S VOICE: Hello, Ted. [sobbing] I can't talk long since I'll get charged extra for international calls. I'm at the Vancouver General Hospital. My father is dying. He may not be with us for more than two weeks. I'll talk to you when I'm back in New York. [hangs up]
TED: She should not be alone there. I'm going to Vancouver. Kids, do you mind staying with Grandma and Grandpa McConnell for a week? This is not a fun trip I'm taking. Robin's dad is on his deathbed.
PENNY: Not at all.
LUKE: Do what you need to do. I hope Aunt Robin is handling it okay. She'll be happy to see you there.
TED: Okay, go get packing. [picks up phone] Hello, Air Canada, please put me on the next available flight from JFK to Vancouver. It's an emergency…
