- Boredom -

Beatrice's eyes were almost always downcast, hidden by the bangs cut so sharply at her eyebrows, it seemed as though it were impossible for a single strand of golden hair to be even a mere millimeter longer than the rest, and, oddly, there never was. Her hair was always braided carefully, twisted and set as a spiral on the back of her head, while some were left before her ears, curled like that of a princess's (which was anything besides Beatrice's personality), and finished with a reddish-maroon flower placed on the right side of her head.

Always on the right side, never on the left.

This ritual was repeated every day, done in the same fashion, set up in the same spot. If you looked carefully, you would be able to see crimps in her hair on those rare occasions when it was allowed to cascade down her back; a sign that shown Beatrice hardly spent any days without that particular hairstyle. As time passed, the style grew easier to finish as Ronove got used to it (he was quick in setting up the hair, much unlike before), and so did the hair. Beatrice would frown at her mirror, bored of the same look she received from herself every morning.

A frown definitely doesn't suit your face, Milady, Ronove would say, chuckling as Beatrice would scowl sourly, telling him it was the only expression she felt she wanted to wear at the time.

One peculiar day, however, she raised a hand before that wrenched hairstyle would grace her golden locks again, and smiled rather childishly.

I have an idea, she said, and I'd like you to follow along as I tell you, Ronove.

Maybe it was her imagination, maybe it had actually happened, but a bit of her boredom (which rested on her shoulders and continued to grow heavier as the years passed by) simply evaporated into nothingness that day.
