Tears
Gentle tears washed over Courtney's cheeks. But no one could tell she was crying, for the rain drops falling from the sky were mixing together with the salyy liquid from her once bright onyx eyes.
The young girl, no older than sixteen, sat in her favorite outdoor spot, sitting in the pouring rain, waiting for everything to turn back to the way it was. But nothing was going to be the same again.
Duncan had pulled the last straw that time. He had done the big thing that even Courtney couldn't change; he had cheated. He had pushed Courtney aside as if she didn't matter, as if her feelings didn't matter. He just went out and kissed another girl.
It was one simple action, then one simple whisper in her ear, that had caused Courtney's world to crash and burn around her. Courtney now had no reason to live. No reason to keep going in life. The one person who had showed her how to live her life was gone. She was now nothing without Duncan by her side.
Duncan and Courtney had been an item for almost two years. Those two years had been the best of Courtney's life. The two were inseparable from the day they met to the day he broke her heart. Duncan showed Courtney how to be free. They were always teasing each other, mindlessly flirting with one and other. He showed her how to live life to it's fullest. At least he had. Now Duncan had moved on from Courtney.
The teenage boy was a player. Courtney knew he was a player from the first day they had met in High school. Duncan was always flirting with other girls, but he had always had a soft spot for Courtney. Now Courtney, being the biggest pris in the school, could not see that through her eyes. It took Duncan showing her what she had been missing out on all her life, to get her to see that.
Then along came that new girl. Duncan and Gwen had so much in common. He was a Punk, she was a Goth. Perfect match. They were into all the same stuff, bands, style, everything.
At first, Courtney had thought nothing of thier little friendship. Courtney wasn't the jealous type. She understood perfectly that people needed space, so she gave Duncan space. Apparently she gave him just a little too much.
Earlier that day, when Bridgette had delievered the bad news; Gwen and Duncan had been caught in a make-out session during Math in the girls bathroom by the surfer girl herself. It had broke Courtney in two. As if she was now two-halves, no longer a whole person. Duncan, her other half, was no longer hers. He had cheated on her with his 'friend'.
All the time Courtney had been cuddling up to Duncan. Thinking he really loved her. He was thinking of someone else. He was thinking of Gwen.
The rain did not seem to be lightening up. If anything, it was growing heavier and heavier with every passing moment. There was no light at the end of tunnel for Courtney. She was already drenched, so there was no need to even move.
Passers by didn't even stop to achknowledge her existant on the board walk. They were too concerned about getting under shelter as quickly as possible. Not even giving Courtney a second glance.
That was the good thing sitting in the rain, no one can tell you're crying away the pain.
A/N: If this doesn't express how I feel right now, nothing does...
...Just feeling like sitting in the rain and letting it all out...
Quote: 'I love walking in the rain, 'cause no one knows I'm crying'.
